What's Next: 25 Big Ideas from Gen-Yers Under 25

Check out our videos!

the problem:

Inspired by Seth Godin, What's Next is like the big ideas of the next generation in a book, but everyone's under 25. We're curating a free ebook and a special print edition to benefit charity. We're trying to make youth voices heard. Young people have stories to tell and big ideas to share, so we're offering them a media platform to be heard. Right now we already plan on doing the project as an e-book. But it would so amazing if people could actually see the ideas of young people in print. So we're asking the Do Something community to give this project the spotlight it needs so that people can see young people can make a difference. The funding will go to front costs of self-publishing a hard copy of the What's Next book.

why it's important:

This book is more than just a call to action - it is an record of how we, the young, are integrated members of this cloud-computing, mobile apping, social do-gooding world and how we are making a difference now and for years to come.

the plan of action:

We'll first get contributors 25 and under. Right now they include a 12 year old two-time published author, a 24 year old war refugee turned youth activist in Sierra Leone, a college dropout startup CEO, a 25 year old community organizer in Italy, and a computer science student in Uganda, and more. All ideas are focusing on a big idea our youth have, and the book will primarily be an ebook to reduce paper waste. In addition, we plan on adding "go green" tips on the footer of each page since our book is released right before Earth Day.

We'll curate the ebook and publish it for free online for anyone to read.
Then, if people would like to support the favorite charities of these youth, they can purchase a special print edition.

Dates to keep in mind:
-Submissions from youth contributors accepted in March. This is when the writing/editing process and outreach takes place.
-Book is curated and finalized in late March/early April.
-Ebook is released on April 22, Earth Day and the print edition on April 23, Global Youth Service Day. The week of the book launch is also National Volunteer Week.

how you can get involved:

Support us on Kickstarter! We want to sell special print editions to raise money for our 25 contributors and their charities of choice! http://kck.st/dgznaC
Even if you don't have money to donate, a quick tweet, Facebook status, or email to friends and family to spread the word would be really appreciated.
