At Menasha High school we pride ourselves on being the kind of people who can make a differance in the world today, not 'someday' , but now! So in honor of that tradition of student who find a way to impact peoples lives for the better I have designed a student service project that benefits not only a worldwide oraganization, but a local one too. It is a benefit concert called 'Will ROCK for Food'. The title os a play on words of the all too comonly seen phrase 'will work for food'. The concert is made up of local rock, alternitive, jazz, and pop bands who have a positive image in the community. I chose them because they can appeal to many age groups, and I am aiming to fill the auditorium. The two organizations that will benefit from this production are Heifer international (which is an organization that sends animals and livestock to country's suffering from extreme poverty, and teaches families how to make money and get food from their new animals), and St.Josephs food pantry (which is a local food pantry that serves all the city's in my area). I chose these two because they both share a common goal of not only giving people enough to eat, but also helping them iprove the quality of their lives. The reason I am doing this projct is because I understand how lucky I am to have grown up always having enough to eat, always having clothes, always having a home. The way my father puts it is that every generation should try to improve things for the next generation. This is my way of making a contribution this year. I want to see this projct through, but financially it's getting a little tricky, that is why I am applying for one of the generous grants offerd by 'DO SOMETHING'. It would help a lot, and more people in this world would not go hungry any more.
Peace,Love,and many lovely sunrises,
