The Problem

Wombanism Reproductive Health Services aims to fight patriarchal and racist oppression through womb health advocacy and education. As indicated by the name, Wombanism’s work melds womanist and black feminist theory with childbirth services. With a focus on low-income women of color, this work will examine the intersectionality of race, class, and gender as it relates to sexual health and childbirth.

Why It's Important

The overall goal of Wombanism is to interject itself in this process, educating and advocating for women who have little or no access to alternative birthing options. I believe that empowering women at the front end, and assisting and supporting them as they navigate the medical system will circumvent these feelings of powerlessness, thereby ensuring them the right to transformation. Additionally, all the work of Wombanism will emphasize natural holistic methods of healthcare, universal access to quality care, access to good, wholesome food, and community empowerment.

The Plan Of Action

Currently, I am seeking initial funding to launch the organization. Once funded, I will provide no-cost doula services to low-income women, and partner with communities to provide sexuality and nutrition education to new mothers and mothers-to-be.

How Can Others Get Involved?
