As a WorldTeach volunteer this summer I will be working with kids between grades 7-9 and teaching English as part of Telesecundaria, a program initiated by the WorldTeach organization. As an active teacher, present in the classroom I will be completing the most critical part of the English language education process. Throughout the school year, the students utilize a video program and are taught English primarily through tapes, yet with little to no first person instruction. It is my vision that with my presence in the classroom, the students will maximize their understanding of the English language by asking questions and interacting. Through obtaining literacy and speaking fluency in English, it is our hope they will be opened to educational and career opportunities that otherwise would have been impossible.
