See It

Yellow Brick Road, Inc. is comprised of caring, competent individuals dedicated to enhancing the lives of children and adolescents, particularly those in out-of-home care, through advocacy, support, providing opportunities, and implementing innovative programs. Youth involved in the child welfare system experience many adverse events, including frequent home and school transfers, being separated from many or all family members, and the lack of adequate support and preparation needed for success in adulthood. Yellow Brick Road, Inc. seeks to empower youth to reach their full potential as adults.

Believe It

Yellow Brick Road, Inc. will provide care packages to local shelters to distribute to youth as they enter the child welfare system. These care packages will contain personal hygiene products, a journal, stationery, a personal radio, and information about the organization. The organization will recruit mentors in the community to provide support to youth in local shelters and residential facilities. The mentors will also assist youth in areas such as education, employment, social relationships, health care, and life skills. Finally, Yellow Brick Road, Inc. will stay up-to-date with emerging research and best practices and offer trainings and presentations to other organizations.

Build It

A team of 4 board members has been assembled and encouraged to make change. Yellow Brick Road, Inc. is currently holding it's first fundraiser. A state-wide art contest was held for youth in the child welfare/foster care system. Winning entries are featured in a 2009 calendar which is being sold throughout the state.
