The Problem

Human trafficking. In time, I am confident that my project will open the eyes of many people who are unaware of the horror and pain that human trafficking inflicts on thousands of innocent people. Through awareness, the mission of combating human trafficking can progress.

Plan of Action

First, I plan on starting an organization at my school, the University of Florida. However, to do so, I need extensive support and proof that the organization will succeed. I believe that with your help, I can reach this goal very easily. Once the organization has begun, I will begin recruiting students to help with our mission. By holding weekly meetings and events, I am confident that I will have enough student and faculty support to make genuine progress. With the grant money, we can attend conferences and state-wide events that educate the public about human trafficking. We can learn from their practices, and implement them into our own mission. Additionally, I am currently interning for the attorney general of California, Kamala D. Harris. Her policy on human trafficking has inspired me in a multitude of ways. After listening to her remarks on the issue, I have formed my own opinions that I will take with me throughout this project. Moreover, I am a firm believer of education. Good values and bad values can be taught at a young age just as math and reading can be taught and learned. Members of the organization will travel to many elementary, middle and high schools to talk to students about the dangers of human trafficking. In doing so, we can prevent students from getting involved. While I have many general ideas, I have a specific plan of action that will allow me to zoom into many of my thoughts. I know that the organization will start off local, bringing awareness to surrounding students. In time, the organization will undoubtedly expand. University of Florida is a very world-aware and progressive environment. With a passionate and eager group of students and faculty, I know that this project will succeed. While my support system is very small right now, I do not fear that I will be met with disappointment or failure. "Never underestimate the power of a small group of people to change the world. In fact, it is the only way it ever has." - Margaret Mead
