The Problem

"FRACKING is a method of gas extraction that involves injecting secret, highly-toxic chemicals deep underground to fracture rock formations. Fracking has been linked to over 1,000 incidents of groundwater contamination across the US, including many cases where people can actually ignite their tap water! The process is currently unregulated due to numerous exemptions in federal laws, and is a threat to our public health and environment"-Frackaction.com

Plan of Action

We have started a club on campus and we are planning two events: We are inviting speakers from frackaction to raise awareness on the issues and hosting an after party to raise funds for the organization, stress the importance of the vote, and show that getting involved can be easy and fun.

Project Updates

Last night was a success!!! Mark Ruffalo along with the founders of Frack Action Julia Walsh and Claire Sandberg spoke about Hydro-Fracking and enlightened and inspired the students of UA!! We are ready even more ready and prepared to fight! After the presentation everyone including Mark headed downtown to the Bayou Cafe for some live entertainment by Tweed McGee, the Dylan Emmet Band, Remembering M3, and EmergeMcee. Thank you everyone especially NYPIRG for helping to make this event possible!

Thanks to the efforts of Frack Action the fracking moratorium was passed the night of Nov 30th in the New York State Assembly.
