The Problem

I am trying to keep kids off the streets in my Bronx neighborhood by doing something postive with the community. By creating the Young Boyz Basketball League, I have brought different groups of kids (16 and under) together around the sport of basketball. There are many differences and problems between different teenagers who are from different blocks in my neighborhood. Many times, these differences and problems are all hear-say and not based on anything real. I am really trying to bring people together as a whole and leave our differences behind.

Plan of Action

My plan of action is to continue providing my year-round basketball league to bring people together around the sport of basketball. I have already hosted one Young Boyz League Tournament in August of 2010, where eighty players from my Bronx neighborhood came together for a day of basketball. Through community donations, I was able to provide trophies, uniforms, and official referees. I am about to host another tournament in a neighborhood gymnasium in the Bronx, where 75 players will be involved. My current plan of action is to raise funds for our summer tournament (July or August 2011). Dosomething.org funding would be used to provide ref fees, trophies, gym permits, and player uniform t-shirts.
