The Problem

The Village de l’Est neighborhood, the target neighborhood geographically and culturally isolated from the Greater New Orleans metropolitan area. The majority of the residents are low-income immigrant population arriving in the United States in 1975. The traditional Vietnamese cultural practices require women to be submissive and docile, while men are central figures in the household.

Plan of Action

To create a space where young women can discuss and take action on the critical issues that directly affect them. These issues range from domestic violence, the gender wage gap, body image, gender norms, social stereotypes, healthy relationships, and the representation of women in the workforce.
