The Problem

Eliminate the food desert in our community by providing fresh organically grown fruits and vegetables. Help youth learn to love fresh fruits & veggies. Teach youth to respect the environment and provide marketable skills to enable them to get employment or create employment for themselves and others.

Plan of Action

We talked with and listened to young people about their interests, polled the community for suggestions and support, got training in agriculture and urban farming, collaborated with other organizations doing similar work, found usable land and volunteered our time to develop Earth's Keepers and the projects we are working on. To date we have taught over 95 students urban farming, nutrition, importance of exercise, cooking fresh fruits and vegetables, and entrepreneurship. In addition, we have involved and inspired over 80 volunteers in our programs. We have gotten fresh fruits and vegetables in a estimated 100 households in the community. During the fall season we plan to plan a fruit orchard with the support of The Philadelphia Orchard Project.
