The Problem

Many girls throughout their middle school years are lead in the wrong direction. Whether is be drugs, alcohol, stealing, or being bullies. The QMF cheerleading program is a youth association program that not only teaches kids how to stay healthy and active, but puts them in an environment where they feel safe and are off the streets. It teaches responsibility by making mandatory practices and encourages them to be involved in sporting activities. The girls look up to their older volunteer mentors, and it makes them strive to become successful in whatever they chose to accomplish. Also, we require the girls to keep a good GPA in school in order to keep cheerleading with the team, which does encourage them to do well in school. I have not had to pull anyone off the team due to bad grades. Many of the girls have changed their lifestyles because of this program!

Plan of Action

I have spread the word about the program throughout the middle schools and high schools in my area. I have talked with many parents, and they have all seen great success with their children involved in the program. Fundraising is always a big thing to not only keep the program going, but to help pay for clothes and uniforms to wear so that the team is unified as one.
