I'm trying to make my school and community greener and cleaner by picking up litter, starting a recycling center in my school, and planting trees.

We believe that the plight of refugees in Denan and those struggling in rural poverty in Bangladesh are the plights of those who are being wholly forgotten. Much of this is due to lack of media attention and hence, lack of awareness.
In the Bangladeshi province of Pabna, there are currently only FOUR general hospitals and ONE community hospital.

Because our school is a virtual school, the students are spread out across the state. However, there are students who live in the same areas. Some of these students need additional help in school. We will offer tutoring to the students in our area.

Some of us know families that are going through hard times right now. It could be because of money, illness, or other reasons. We will try to lift their spirits by providing them with dinner.

Our mission is to prevent homelessness by helping those who want to take the next step in their life. We are helping a non-profit organization called Family Promise which helps homeless families get back on their feet and become self-sufficient.

Freetown became a “safe heaven” for people who fled the atrocities caused by rebels’ up- country. The country was devastated with the decade long civil unrest which left thousands of people moving from one area to another for safety. Thousands of people moved into Freetown and little have returned to their original homes after the war. The population of Freetown grew from 800,000 in 1995 to 1.85 million in 2003.

A Photovoice is a way to empower and educate the community with very little money, power or social status. This allows participants to tell their story thru pictures, by expressing their joys, concerns, and ideas for change.
The problem is very alive and real today within our local community. People are so bet down by their jobs and life, or lack thereof, to take and step back and look at the problems they see every day. Some of these people feel like they do not even have a voice and do not feel comfortable speaking to others.

What is Neurofibromatosis?
Neurofibromatosis, pronounced neuro-fibroma-tosis, is a genetic disorder of the nervous system that causes tumors to form on the nerves anywhere in or on the body at any time. NF affects all races, all ethnic groups and both sexes equally. NF affects more people than Cystic Fibrosis and Muscular Dystrophy combined!

Members of the Ionia Kids Club volunteered to plant vegetables at a local Community Garden. This garden is maintained completely by volunteers with assistance from the Ionia County Community Food Network. All the produce will be donated to local food pantries and soup kitchens.
