How many times have you seen kids drive while talking on the cell phone and have their music real loud. How many times have you seen kids eating or applying make-up while driving. Well if you were me, then you would see that alot. But I have a solution for this thing.

I'm graduating from high school in June of 2007. My graduating class has shortened the year to just "007" and planned activities all year around the James Bond theme. For example, our prom theme is "007 Diamonds Are Forever".
In an effort to promote safe driving, we're planning a final James Bond themed event called "Casino Royale-Don't leave your life to chance, drive smart!" Teens take a lot of chances when driving; talking on the phone, turning in front oncoming vehicles, speeding around school. The risk they're taking involves them, friends in their vehicle, and others on the road.

This project is to benefit the "residents" at the Ross County Humane Society. They are usually filled to capacity with dogs and cats. With a very small staff, they are not able to walk the dogs often, and it is out in the country where a lot of people in our county have never even been. Besides dog-walking, I hope that bringing more volunteers to the shelter will also lead to more adoptions.

We are a group of experienced young artists at Miami Palmetto Senior High School, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard, and University of Florida who have created Painting Smiles to share our love of art with the community. Through painting murals we hope to promote the causes that we believe in--one of which is that the most important purpose of art is to inspire smiles from the viewer.
At the present we've painted over 500 sq feet of murals and are planning several more projects that will span over 600 sq feet.

In 2008 in an unprecedented move in selecting a 14 year old, the Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities Organizing Institute chose Jordan as one of seven participants to be trained in organizing skills with the expectation she return to her community to promote systems change around issues that affect people with disabilities. Jordan wrote a bilingual play. “Mr. Ooba’s T.E.A.M.” addresses the issue of bullying of developmentally disabled and medically fragile children and diversity in our classrooms. “Mr.

Today’s high schools have deviated from teaching kids about science and technology, instead emphasizing performance on standardized tests. With little to no hands-on experience with science and technology, students quickly lose interest in these subjects because they have not experienced the real world applications of science and technology. We want to link knowledge learned in school with real world applications.

This project is simple but can make an impact! In this project you can get your local Police Department involved or a small group of students can do it themselves. First you need to make a "good ticket," it can be as simple or as complex as you want. *(Tip: the more simple it is the more tickets you can fill out)

This unique projects aims to raise awareness about the dangers of reckless driving to a large group of local teenagers. It would take place in at least five high schools in the Portland-Beaverton area. These schools totaling at about 11,045 students. If resources allow, I would love to expand this project to schools in other districts.

If $500 were given to me to promote smart and safe driving, I would use the money to spread awareness. After researching teen driving, I would put together a brochure with pictures and statistics of deaths, injuries, and more terrible results of unsafe and unsmart teen driving.

Teens, particularly girls, in my area tend to drive really close to the car in front of them. I guess some don't even think about it, thinking that they can stop fast enough if need be. WRONG ANSWER! In six months, my sister and I were in three car collisions, all rear-ends and all of which were girls. The last one, though, totaled her car. It is a real bummer when you have to go around with the pain of a collision and no car to go with it.

Since the age of 9, I have been creating short films to help young people with better decision making in life and following their dreams. I am trying to help youth in urban communities nationwide, and would like to reach them to help with making better decisions in life. Many youth struggle with peer pressure, but about 60 out of 100 choose to make bad decisions by choosing drugs, guns, alcohol, stealing, etc.
Presently, I am sharing my projects with youth at schools, youth centers, churches, conventions & other places.

In low-income communities the immediacy of day to day needs often overshadows thoughts of planning ahead and saving for the future. This project addresses the importance of teaching middle and high school students in Apopka, Florida how to manage money and save for their futures. About one third of Apopka High students are eligible for free or reduced price lunches and one quarter are non-native speakers of English. Many students are unfamiliar with financial institutions and the concept of saving money.

There are 53 million orphans living in sub-Sahara Africa. The mortality rate is 1 in 10 before the age of 5 and there are over 93 million primary school-aged children who receive no education. In response to this glaring problem a number of churches and ngo’s have launched orphanages and children’s homes to help provide basic food, shelter and education, but unfortunately they often fall short of preparing these children for life beyond the orphanage.

Its hard being a child. However, its harder to live in underprivilaged circumstances and remain a child. Underprivilaged children dont have the same oppertunities as families who are well off. Strings With Wings, Inc. wants to give underprivilaged children or at risk youth an oppertunity to learn music. By allowing at risk youth to learn music, we give them a chance to transcend their circumstances and open a door to a brighter future.
