Animal shelters have a limited budget and are in need of many supplies such as food, cat litter, food bowls, and toys (to bring a bit of happiness into an animal's life). Animals are our fellow creatures and deserve to have a joyful life too.

Puppy mills are horrible places of death and disease. Cramped in small, stacked wire cages, hundreds of breeding dogs are forced to churn out puppies again and again until their fertility wanes and they are killed. The resulting puppies, often having defects and carrying disease due to lack of proper care, are sold through dealers or middlemen to pet shops. This cycle of cruelty is currently legal in almost every state in the U.S., but after January 1, 2010, the day SB 5651 takes effect, puppy mills to this degree in Washington State will not be tolerated under the law.

I am trying to provide a safe and friendly place for teens with Aspergers syndrome to truly be them selves and make friends. With out the teen group many of these teens wouldn't be outside participating in other activities. I know this from experience and from newly found friends. I want to show the other girls and myself that we are not alone in this world.

Baan Jing Jai is an orphanage in Pattaya, Thailand. It is the current home to 63 children from the ages of 1 to 17. Unfortunately, in this third world country the orphanage struggles to meet the daily needs of the children, let alone indulge them with the fun toys and activities that all of my friends and I in Palatine, Illinois enjoyed while we were growing up.

I want to help victims of disaster and domestic violence who need clothing. When we help families hit by disaster or a woman who ran from dangers of domestic violence we are also keeping tons of clothes out of the landfills.

As a teenager living with Low Vision, I understand the challenges that have to be faced daily. Many doctors say "no" a lot quicker than they say "yes," especially in the low vision field. In October 2006, I found out from my Low Vision specialist that with the proper training and technology, driving would be a possibility for me. After hearing this, I wanted others to have the same exhilarating experience of hearing a "yes."I founded Songs for Sight to help the Low Vision Community in Alabama, especially the teen and young adult population.
