We live in an area that is used for evacuees when a tornado or hurricane is projected to hit Texas' coast. Because alot of families only receive moments to evacuate, they end up in the evacuee centers without alot of necessities. For the past two years the students and teachers have chosen to make fleece blankets/throws to give to them. They have in the past used their own money and donations from our teachers. However, because we are a poor school district we have not been able to provide as many as we would like to make.

Our project is designed to be a learning tool for middle school students about the Holocaust. We wish to make them realize what happened nearly 60 years ago so that we can prevent it from happening again.

I'm helping anyone and everyone who has dealt with the disease that we all know as cancer. My dad recently passed away from it and I realized how difficult it really was to live through it. By raising money to find a cure for cancer, it'll help out so many people's lives.
Over 1.2 MILLION people were diagnosed with cancer in 2002 alone. And more are affected by it daily.

So many people grow old, go into retirement facilities, and live the rest of their lives alone. Some are more fortunate. Whichever, "Stevie Rae and Friends" is a way of giving back to the community and to these people who often are forgotten. "Stevie Rae and Friends" is a traveling show put together by Stevie Rae Stephens semi-annually. Each show is an hour long and consists of about 12 songs based around a theme. We visit about 8 or 9 homes in one weekend after practicing for a month. I've been doing these shows for the last 6 years and I love it!

The under-involvement of Korean Americans in their communities which results in under-representation and unheard voices. This leads to Korean Americans feeling like second-class citizens in the United States.

Many African-American boys do not believe education is important. They want to become the next athlete or rapper, but they don't know that education is important no matter what they do. I made a film to show all kids, especially African-American boys that education is the key to a successful life.
Americans and non-Americans outside the U.S. want to help with service projects too!
Can you help us find a project to do?

Heshima means “dignity” in Swahili. Most children with special needs in Kenya live a life that is undignified and full of broken dreams. We at Heshima believe that God has a special purpose filled with dignity for children with special needs in Kenya. Most of the children do not have the opportunity to receive special education or therapy; physical, occupational or speech. There are a few private institution that provide some service but it is very expensive.
