A Fight for the Future

As I continue to stay reading the news from many different sources, I can help but continue to feel more and more depressed about the events happening in during this new administration that promised America “Change”. Where was that change? I hear a lot of people saying that, but I’ve come to realize that we are not going to get that change from the current government. Neither the Democrats nor Republicans have an desire to serve the America public. As the policies by these two parties become enacted I can’t help but know they are tossing away the hope of a good healthcare, economic system, civil rights, foreign relations, and most importantly the environment. So what is going to be left when I and all my peers in this generation grow up and take their place? Seems like disorder, death and chaos.

Although, I may seem pessimistic, but at the same time what is a 17 year old supposed to do? Well, I decided what I am going to do. As crazy as it sounds, I am pushing myself and attempting to convince others to get involved with the political process. To write to those in charge, show them that we exist and feel they are setting up for our destruction once they are gone. If I have any luck with this movement, I will push it farther than just passive voices in the background, because it is time to show that the hearts of those who are not being served are stronger than the greed of politicians. Many politicians use children and teenagers to tell stories to appeal to emotion in their speeches, but we are the children who are not being spoken for and so we must tell our own story. Because bottom line, this is the time for a country to lead the world in a new direction. This is the time for leadership from our country. If this leadership must come from teenagers and those supporting them, then I will push everything I have to do so. Obama and all the other politicians are not the leaders this world needs and it’s time for someone to step up to the plate before it’s too late.

Unluckily, my luck with getting support in this movement has been depressing also. I’m seen as crazy and others claim they will think about it. I believe I’m doomed to fail, but I can try, what have I got to lose? This may seem like a long drawn out and pointless rant, but I just want to see if there are any like-minded individuals out there who feel the same way as I do or feel they could at least help this movement in someway. Any help for the future of all of us would be great. If you want to learn more you can contact me on the forum or email me at tlpruitt@live.com

I thank everyone here, Trevor.

Many would like to believe that the Congress or representative government can solve all of the people's problems. However, that is only if that's in the interests of the representative in question. On election day, the people vote to give their power away to their representative, stripping the power away from the people. It is imperative in a true democracy that the people have the power to make laws. Even though this is not a perfect system and the people may make mistakes on the first try, giving power to the people is like giving more and more responsibilities to a child. The more responsibilities that the child can handle, the more mature he or she will become. In legislation, it will be no different: the people will learn to mature and self-correct the mistakes they have made in this process.

Please see my project page for how you can get involved to help to give the people the power to make laws!
