Become an Alley Cat Ally! Feral(untamed) cats can NOT be adopted, so they are doomed to walk the street starving or worse-they could end up in a shelter where they will be put to sleep. All you need to do to save a life is set out food and water and provide a safe, secluded place for these cats to call home. Help keep the stray cats to a minimum by getting involved in the Trap-Neuter-Return program. Trapping the cats in a humane trapping device, taking them to the vet to be spayed or neutered and then releasing them has been proven to be effective in reducing the amount of cats that have to be put down. http://www.alleycat.org/NetCommunity/Page.aspx?pid=191

Already an Ally! Thanks for posting this!! We defiantly need to spread the word.
If you go to this website you can order free info about Alley Cat Allies and they will send you brochures that you can take around to local vets, pet shops, groomers, shelters, & rescues.
cool. but not in the back yard because i have a vishious dogs that hates cats............ and cable guys.
I have seven feral cats living in my backyard; a few even let me pet them. I make sure to leave food and water out for them, and have had to move where I put them because one of the neighbors complained about cat feces in her yard. Since these cats are both feral and strays, and are outside cats that could belong to someone else, I wasn't sure how to respond to her accusation that I was letting MY cats run wild. I would love to have them spayed and neutered, and then returned. The problem with TNR is that I don't have the money....I know that if I can at least help them survive, I am doing what I can for now. How do you convince neighbors they are not "your" cats, but these cats are their own family???
