Body image

It is so hard to be secure with our bodies with a society the way ours is. Defining beauty as a unhealth thin models or at least that is how the media depicts it

as a teenager I fear that three letter word that haunts me constantly FAT
the media makes those models skinny. its disgusting but sumtimes the company will even pair one models head with another models body.
It's annoying to me when people define others as "fat" or "skinny" and that doesn't even matter! people shouldn't be worried about how good they look to other people, it's about having self confidence each person was made differently there isn't a standard we need to live up to. Most of all it's about being healthy and taking care of your body the way we are supposed to.

my daughter is 12 years old and she weighs 103. She has been calling herself fat since she was 7. It is pathetic. Do you think we would think some fat was attractive if society said it was? Like black teeth in China or saggy breasts in Africa?
I hate it when I see people who have a poor self image! I have friends that are some of the greatest people that you will ever meet and they are really beautiful, but they call themselves fat. Society is always going to be obsessed with people who look "perfect" but everyone is beautiful in their own way, and we just need to get that message out there!<3

I don't think that our society would think that FAT was fat if we weren't so obsessed with staying thin. If society said that being FAT was the way to live then I think we would think that was the right way to live and instead of having people who are very skinny you would have more obese people. If society said that black teeth were the new fashion then everyone would have black teeth. I guess in the end it just depends on where you are brought up and the kind of family you have. If you have a parent who is strict or puts a lot of pressure on you then you may be more prone to be trying to strive for that "perfect" number. It just depends on your upbringing and how you react to the world around you and pressure that is forced upon you in today's society.
I've never worried about being fat,I worry about being too thin. People think they are complementing me when they tell me how thin I am. it's just my body type, I tried to put on weight, but I can't, even doctors told me I should put on weight, but it's just not possible for me!! in a society so obsessed with getting thinner, it is weird to be on the other side of that, trying to gain weight, trying to eat fatty food. I'm vegetarian, and have been my whole life, even as a small child. That has made me pretty thin....
I am 13, I play tennis, I rock climb, and I canoe. I have danced since I was little am I always active, yet people are always commenting on how large I am. I dont know why I am this way, I eat granola bars, fruits, and V8 as my main diet. I have grown to love who I am and I realize I cant change it, so why try :D
The one thing I hate the most is thatwhen boys only like you if your skinny and look like a model. its so annoying because theres so many girls out there are so beautiful but arent supper modle gorgous and they dont actually give them a chance.
I run cross country and am the biggest girl on my skinny girl team. It freightens me when I am told I have the highest self esteem on the team. What happened to those girls with the perfect ideal bodies. Perhaps beauty isn't all there is to it.
It does not matter what others think about you or the way you think about yourself. God made you in His own image and He loves you just the way you are.
i think that is very true....god did make us who we are and that just the way he wanted us to be...i think that if people cant like for who we are then that there problem they could be missing out on alot of nice people.
The way the media depicts body image it completely and utterly wrong. You can change how you look but not who you are, so why bother.
I think if the media was to say some fat was atrative then everyone would wount some fat on them. I also think that media is the reason for teenage eatting disorders.
