Campaign Signs for Raptors

I went to the Scarborough Faire this weekend with my school, and there was a man there who had "exotic birds of prey". Before each animal was brought out, he gave a speech on welfare for his animals and how humans should take better care of animals.
He talked about how one can donate old campaign signs to help the birds. They basically make lives easier for thet birds, and make them less prone to disease by keeping them off the ground.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to raise awareness? I've never done anything like this before and was trying to come up with ideas. I think I'll talk to my town's libary and ask if they'd put out a box for it, and I've talked to several people at school. Any other ideas?
