Donestic Violence Against Women

If a man is a man why must he use his hands?
So tell your sister, mother, cousin, your friend.
Domestic violence never ends, it's a vicious cycle that happens over and over again.
So after he beggs you to stay girl!!!!!!
Think about it do you really want to live that way??????

very very true, that was something i had to ask my self once.

That is so true! I have spread the word to everyone I know, and it has actually helped out my aunt in her previous relationship with a guy.

Has anybody seen Enough? Its kind of an old movie, late 90s I believe, with J-Lo. Its a badass movie about this woman who has an abusive husband she is trying to run away from and at the end she beats him up. It was cool. I was young when I saw it (I'm 18 now)and then I thought how great it was that she was defending herself. Ive always been against domestic violence even before I was old enough to understand.

I think it's horrible. I wrote a blog about it. I'd really appreciate it if you checked it out

Stratification of gender organizes our society in a way that results in certain members of the male sex group having more access to wealth, prestige, and power than other males and members of the female sex group. This is repeatedly illustrated in Maxim and Cosmopolitan magazine. Sociologist Erving Goffman’s defines being male as:
"A young, married, white, urban, northern heterosexual, Protestant father of college education, fully employed, of good complexion, weight and height, and a recent record in sports…Any male who fails to qualify in any one of these ways is likely to view himself…as unworthy, incomplete, and inferior." (85)
There is this constant struggle of hierarchy among men. This idea of what it is to hold power creates violence among those men that do not fit these particular ideals and as illustrated in the media, violent masculinity is becoming a cultural norm. When we do not follow the expectations and definitions that society has developed for us, the outcomes can sometimes be quite dangerous and demeaning. Individual’s everyday are tormented, harassed, and even killed for not ‘living up to’ or ‘meeting’ the guidelines of masculinity or femininity. For instance, why does the idea of homosexuality scare people? Magazines teach compulsory heterosexuality and racism to their readers. When men fear homosexuals and their own homosexual feelings, it causes violence and leads to killings. The media has created a climate and atmosphere that also legitimizes violence against women. One of the major reasons that women go to the emergency rooms is because they were brutally beaten by the men they live with.

Together, we can change this!
