How does it feel to know that a major clothing company and many other places are only hiring based only looks, race, and etc?

In an article i read during class it said that a certain major brand store only hires who they feel fits the all-american look and that it is policy thats if they see a tall, blonde, college student they are supposed to hire them. My teacher even told my class that a friend of her's used to work there and they had a two stacks of applications...one was for the "good looking" applicants and the other was for the non-good looking and at the end of the day they would throw away the non-good looking stack. How does it feel to know that a major clothing company and many other places are discriminating and hiring based on race, looks, age, and other things?
i think that it is really wrong for them to be doing that and that it is policy for them to ask certain people to work there...it is sad and especially when things are changing now...i mean come on now, no one is perfect everyone is an edividual and has their own look
People are so ignorant, how would they feel if we judged them on race,looks, and other things. You can't base hard work on looks, its just wrong. I get judged everyday on how I look. Everyone is judged everyday its quite annoying actually. Who says that these people are ugly? They may seem ugly to you but that's cuz your just plain dumb. You can't judge someone on how they look, you have to judge on what's in their heart ♥. People who are childish judge before they actually know the person. How are you going to get anywhere in life by judging someone?
that really ticks me off i know people who i am sorry too say would deny me a job b/c of my physical appearance i am not allowed to talk to one of my close friends when her mom is home b/c i am fat and her mom hates me b/c of that
its retarded. people of different races can work just as hard as the all-american-blonde, or whatever.
i read an article like that about a store it said that a Filpino man applied for a job there and they told him that he couldn't because there were too many Filpino people working there. thats terrible you would think that discrimination would be over by now!
My name is Dani Atkins and I am one of 4 surviving children of Ronald Edward Atkins and Clancyna Marie Atkins. On January 26, 2008 my father was killed in a tragic car accident that took place only 2 minutes away from my home. My parents had been married for 30 years at the time of the accident without separation. As I have been assisting my mother with putting together various lawsuits and claims against several different persons, insurance companies, and even the Los Angeles Police Department regarding several acts of negligence and dishonor surrounding my fathers death, I have come across a disturbing piece of information that I, being a 24 year old African American person am appauled. My father having been born on April 9, 1955, has a birth certificate that identifies his color and race as being "NEGRO." My grandmother, Eloise Marie Harrison having been born on April 4, 1933 has a birth certificate that identifies her color and race as being "NEGRO". My mother, who is still alive, Clancyna Marie Atkins born on September 4, 1956 has a birth certificate that identifies her color and race as being "NEGRO" as well. And I am quite sure there are thousands if not milliions of other African American people dead or alive who have been identified on paper at birth as being "NEGRO" I am absolutely disgusted that the United States of America even in 2009 have not made an attempt to make right this defamation of character in administering all new birth certificates to those who have died as well as those still living to identify these HUMAN PEOPLE with dignity and respect. I am passionately committed to make my fathers name wholly reflect the honorable father, husband, and man that he was and the fact that his life was not even given an opportunity to start before he was branded on United States of America paper as being a "NEGRO" is a disgrace and a shame on America.

I believe in affirmative action. I believe that everybody regardless of race, sex and or religions should have and be judged by the same criteria WITHOUT race, sex or religion playing a role.
What I am saying is, affirmative action is actually a PC (politically correct) way to be racist and/or race biased towards one race over the other and that is Racism in the purest form.
Why is it ok to say “I will be racist to you in order not to be racist to him/her?” “Why is it ok to judge one person by their color, sex or religion in the name of not judging the other by the same criteria?” This opinion is not only mine but rather one of many scholars, professor and thinkers alike in all “racial” sector or communities.
All people deserve to be judged EQUALLY! People should be judged based on qualification for the job and or task at hand.

I think this stuff shouldn't happen, it just promotes discrimination and something has to be done.
Have you ever seen that there are no Asian centered movies? Except from wars and kung fu movies, but they are starting to add more white people on them like the main actor/actress, therefore leaving more Asian people without roles.
There is not only discrimination against blacks and whites there is also discrimination towards Asians, Indians and people form other ethnicity.
It is wrong for them to do that because they become a store that is appealing only to those who feel they meet the criteria of looks. I'm not a beautiful, tall, or thin. When I tend to walk into those stores with employees like that, I feel intimidated and insecure. People have to feel comfortable with who they are, and hiring beautiful people for a particular store does not make everyone feel comfortable. This whole idea of the "perfect" image should be stopped. By having a more diverse population of employees, the customers will feel more confident with the whole environment of the store. Overall, the stores are basically advertising to a target audience and want their "look" to be pristine and perfect.
You should also be asking why major stylish clothes exclude the plus-size or double-digit sizes from being a model. Just the other day I was on facebook and since I liked a store I like their group on facebook. Anyway, this store put up an ad for models for their upcoming fall line. However, they but that you had to be no more then a size 4 and you had to be 5'7 or higher. Right when I saw that I realized why can't they higher girls like me. I am by no means extremly fat, however I am not a size for at all.
Why can't places include plus-sized models in their ads, without the store being a store made for plus-sized girls?
I understand that stores want their image to be pretty and perfect but the fact is, not all of us are a 4!
I can't believe that now in 2010 with an african american president, people are still doing discriminating things like that.
