How important is voting?

Back to 'War, Peace & Politics' forum.

Many feel that they aren't expressed when they vote and as a result, don't. How important do you feel voting is?

i feel that even though one vote is not a lot, when you combine the amount of people who do not vote, the make up a considerable amount of people that can greatly effect the outcome of an election

I think that voting is the most importing thing when it comes to how a country is ran. When people go out and vote it shows that they care about how thier country is ran

voting is very important in the united states when you are 18 i beg you to do the best thing as an American and vote for the person you think that will run our country . Most countrys dont even have the chance to vote so take this oppurtunity and use it .
VOTE FOR JOHN MCAIN AND SARAH PALIN!!!!!!!!!!!

DOn't listen to Olivia! If you care for justice and everything good and right in the world, vote for anyone BUT McCain and Palin, please. Now to the subject of voting, as a democracy, I find voting to be very important, although most Americans don't vote really the most educated way, they are mostly apathetic about politics, even though it runs everything in our lives and the lives of people all over the world. I believe we should push to educate more about politics and get children more involved in knowing what is going on inthe world and our government so we can choose a leader inan educated manner and not for petty reasons.

What is a Mouth without a Voice?
What is freedom without a choice?
We have been given an ultimate gift, but yet we do not use it
A paved pathway, however we refuse it
We sing and we rap about our problems, with disdain we complain
However when given the opportunity to turn our reactions into action, we sit back and we refrain.
Now, I’m not going to speak to those that came before us that suffered, bled, and died
Or the ones who were lied to, tricked, disenfranchised, and ruled ineligible when they tried
Or those that were not granted the right due to their sex or their gender
Or those prior to 1972, who had to go to war at age 18 but couldn’t vote until they turned 21
But I will, talk about you
About us
About Youth
About the 69 million of us between the ages of 18 and 24 that have a voice, and have been given an opportunity to make that voice heard.
In 2004 in the United States less than half of us turned out to the polls, and in South Carolina only 44% of this age group.
Now imagine if half was acceptable in other parts of life
Half of our paycheck, half on an exam, half of all of our free time
We have got to do better
We have the opportunity, the ability, and capacity to change the rest of time.
We have the power to clean up the Financial Markets
We have the power to lower gas prices
We have the power over foreign policy
We have the power to create a better tomorrow
However that power is not in what we say or even what we choose to believe in
That power comes on November the 4th when we exercise the pen

I think it is very important to vote!!! Use your voice and speak up, stand up for what you believe in show your intergrity! We NEED to vote and use our voice the voice that we're soooo lucky to have because if we don't then we are no longer a democracy! Don't take for granite the freedoms you have!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what is democracy if not all voices are heard.
democracy is very abstract, and sometimes, you just have to go with what you believe in

i believe that america made it as far as it did because of democracy, and democracy will bring us out of this mess. i hope. and if it doesnt, than we should at least agree on that

NO matter what they say, changing the world is totally G
