How prevalent is racism in your community?

Back to 'Discrimination' forum.

Do you think racism is limited to certain parts of the country or the world? Can it be easily overcome? Have instances of racism become more unacceptable in recent years?

Well, I live in Australia, so racism isn't something that we encounter very often. I live in an extremely multi-cultural society, and appreciate the anti-racist attitude that my friends, community and country have.

In my opinion i don't think racism is "limited" to just one area or one country, because believe it or not racism is everywhere.Regardless if it's shown or hidden, acted on or not it's there! What i do think is that racism tends to "show" up more in the U.S.A than in other coutnries! What i mean by this is that people in the states are more likely to put it out that they hate a race unlike if you're over in other parts of the world where they might give signs but won't exactly come out and say it!

I live in a city where its 99% latinos (so am i) but we dont have a problem with anyone..

A new subtopic of 'Racism' should be Expansion Racism. My school is expanding into Harlem, which is one of the more low-income areas in New York. The school is evicting at least 5,000 residents of Harlem, who are mostly African-American. The school is NOT giving equal compensation for their actions.
