If you could talk to Obama, what would you say?

He's been president for just short of a month and has already tackled numerous issues, including the economy and equal pay for women. If you had 60 minutes with Obama, what would you say? What would you ask him? Is there a particular issue you want him to tackle next? Tell us here!

So uh... you were the better choice eh? lol Just kidding, I highly doubt I would start the conversation out with that statement, however it does appeal to the comedic side of my personality at the moment. I would however, like to argue many topics with the man, including abortion, gay rights, and many other "touchy" issues. I would clearly and proudly state that I am a Republican, and that trying to sway me would do no good, that on the day of his inauguration as I stood with the millions of others, I heard the booing of our nation's president at that time, George W. Bush, and looked around in total disgust at what I saw around me. What we have striven for... all these years, decades, more than a century, we have not come as far as we would like to think. I would tell President Barack Obama this, and as I'm sure he would try to say something to the effect of, "These are things we must try to work on, and they will not be solved soon; it will be tough, it won't be easy.... etc." I would simply tell him, I did not want you as this nation's president, I do not want you as this nation's president or my president, and I highly doubt I will ever want you as president. Yes it's true I'm a staunch Republican, I'm conservative and hold my morals high, but I do understand making history, and that change can be good, I just think, we've made a monumental mistake.
VanHalenChick, the fact is that he is the president and whether you think it's a mistake or not is for naught because it won't change the reality. I would think that you would take the time to actually discuss your views on issues that matter to you, why they matter to you, how they could affect the greater good (or bad)... I mean, maybe it's just me but I would think this would be more productive as opposed to moaning and griping over something you can't change.
I don't think 60 minutes would be long enough for me to get answers to all the questions I have for this man. Everything he's doing in office is digging US (not just our parents but US KIDS) into a financial hole and I believe we have made a HUGE mistake putting Obama into office. I am also very confused about all the complaints of any problem with Obama being racial. I'd like to see what he thinks about that. Also debate with him about abortion because I would like to think our president has more respect for human like than to kill someone before they get a chance to live.
I believe will destroy/is destroying our country. He scares me.He is an abomination to all christians.I really dont think i have any questions for him.accusations i have plenty of.we need to pray for our world leaders and JESUS RETURN!!!!!!!!!!
Well, im not sure really what I would say. I know it would be something along the lines of how he is a strong man for standing up for his race and going out there. He is strong for knowing how to handle all of the stupid racial comments put at him every day. I would tell him though that some of the little things he is working on changing is ridiculious. There should be more effort on thinking about war, medical insurance, and financial problems all over America. There is a whole list of things i could complain and congradulate him on. He is a strong man, although there is some things that could be made to make him more respected.
..This is all just a sum of what I think.
dearest sheila drew,
there is no room for you in this country of freedom, liberty, and justice for all. Jesus didn't build this country, people did. And if you claim yourself to be soooo Christian, then you would be more accepting of people of all different religions/races/cultures/backgrounds.
You are a racist twat that doesn't deserve to be American.
Let's all remember that everyone has the right to speech and that we do not necessarily have to agree with them. Please remember to be respectful of others.
I would ask WHY? why are you destroying our country, why cant you ever say anything good about our country, why do you want to destroy our health care, whats your motive to spend us into debt.
To all you liberals out here, how is your hope and change working out.
I would say to stop putting our nation in debt and forget about putting money in global warming... I don't know about ya'll but its been getting colder around where i'm at.
I would encourage him to help the impoverished people of America. Make college more accessible to everybody. With the downturn our economy many of middle class parents can no longer afford to help their children in college. I grew up in the lower class and the economy has made it even harder to accomplish my dream of going to college. That is a basic right we all have. The right to learn and better ourselves and the communities around us. I live in Seattle and I am saddened by the extreme poverty around me. So many homeless. We even have cities of homeless. We call them tent cities. The government can create more jobs such as building cheap homes, shelters for these people.
Global warming is happening. It is changing the environments around us making it hotter in some places, colder in other areas. Green Jobs are the jobs of the future. America needs to keep up with the world. Making windmills, mass producing solar panels will provide jobs to the recently homeless and out of work people.
Amen Sister pblinds!!! same here they need to foucus on more important things(debt, helthcare) & this helthcare bill is crazy!!! the breast cancer survival rate is much lower in england & Canada than in the Us!! & that is just because they have to wait to be screened! wake up!
P.S. Ya'll Can Keep The Change!!
P.P.S i am NOT A RACEIST I SUPPORTED Alen Keys look him up he rocks!!
First of all, I just want to say that I'm neither republican nor democratic... Lets all remember that Barrack Obama is human, yes, he is the president of the United States, but above all, he is human. He's going to make mistakes, even huge ones, and you might not like the causes in which he is working on, but lets try to be less selfish... I mean, some people, actually need him to work on them. It might not seem enough for you, but he is trying. Why waste 60 minutes with him whining and telling him what a bad president he is. This is exactly how many of Americans thought others would behave. We are here to make a change, not to whine.
I think Obama is only thinking of himself and not his country. First of all he was born in Africa so he most definetly should not be president. And our governent is supposed to be for the people, by the people but none of the people wanted the health care bill!
60 minutes will never be enough time for me to get all my aggrivation out towards this moron. He was supposed to help our economy not drive it farther into the hole. What ever happened to by the people for the people? He is a moronic communist who doesn't care what the people of this country want. He wants to do what he wants and tell us what we should want. Along with the rest of the liberals up on capital hill. I don't care about the color of your skin Obama the change you are providing will kill this country. You offered hope and change for the better. All you have given us the people of this republic and democratic (not socialist) country is dissapointment and failure. You are a liar and a failure as a president. It makes me very sad that this will not be over soon and you have three more years to destroy this country. I can only hope that God will come back soon or you will be impeached and kicked out of office along with your moron vice president and Nancy "windbag" Pelosi. For all of you that haven't yet picked up on this I am a republican.
I hope everyone who comments to this post takes the time to research the health reform bill. Read over the key points of the bill that are found on this website. It is selfish to deny the right of heath care to Americans. Many people fall into the misconception that this bill will only benefit the minorities. But that is simply not true. This health bill will benefit all young Americans who will now be able to stay on thier parents health insurance till the age of 26. Now if your parents become diagnosed with cancer their health insurance will be obligated to cover it. Everyone who opposes this bill must get out of their ivory tower and accept the nations true needs. Just because you may not need the health bill means no one else needs it. Our nation should not be run by these egoistic self centered attitudes that most of you are showing.
I would say:
Make wise and good decisions and remember that the United States of America is depending on you to make wise decisions. People vote for you for a reason.

"If you set your mind to it, then you can do it!"
Well if i were able to talk to the President, I would ask him if he could posssibly listen to what today's teens have to say. I mean it's going to be left in our hands one day, and we as teenagers should have some say in what goes in our world. I mean it's not like we can vote...You know...I mean the adults choose life for the teens... maybe if we had some kind of say in our interests or why some kids are obese, then they would have a better understanding on what teens go through or how we prefer life.
I would tell him that whats happening in Arizona is very unconstitutional (i think i spelled it wrong.) Immigrints should have the right to be here. Its a FREE COUNTRY! Liberty and Justice for ALL. How would you feel if someone said "That Mexican, Asian, Japaneese, Indian should be kicked back to the country they were born in." You would be upset right? Well, Undocumented People feel that way, Maybe even worse. I hope that got you thinking.
If I could talk to Obama for one day I would say...
Detroit NEEDS help! Our city is falling apart. Kwame robbed us in our rebuilding process. People are turning their backs on Detroit. Someone needs to do something before the City Council becomes more corrupt than it already is. So what i would say is Detroit needs a come back fast! Help!
hi we need your help on programs on do something.org
and help the people in this good worlds of today.
Everybody who is hatin and blaming Obama for all the stupid and the lack of common sense and self obsession of other presidents(G.W.B.) should be ashamed of yourselves, Obama walked into a house that was already messed up in the first place, he can't fix what took eight years of screwing America over in just a few months or a year, its going to take him longer than that to fix things. Obama came in after stupidity, unlogical, unthinkable, and one sided baafoon. Did you even think about just maybe Obama was place in a messed up situation that gave him no choice but to make harsh sacrifices? Sometimes, some things have to give in order to gain back what we lost, yea its not fair but that's life. Why don't yall try looking at things through Obama's point of view, walk a mile in his shoes and get over yourselves because if you're not going to be a solution to the problem instead of making it worse by throwing tantrums like a baby then don't be nothing at all.

I agree with you 100%!!! The poor guy is trying to make things better but there is just so much wrong that he can't do it right away! I would applaud him for even wanting to be in office with all of the trouble there is right now! :p
ya hi there i wanna talk to you about this little crises called the bp oil spill and how your planning on making it better? o your too busy eating lunch right now ok ill just tell the local fisherman who rely on the gulf to feed there familys to shut down ok? ok :( i know its not his fault but i know theres ways he can and he does too but hes to happy munching on caviar
I would ask him 2 things. One; a presidential pardon. Two; the ability to create my own city, and run it the way I want to (no federal government).
I would say why do you lie to the people you call citizens. Why do we watch Fox 2 or Ch.7 and they give us all the little things. I mean murders, rape, and crime are all big things but they don't tell us about a crisis or anything to great for the citizens to know. Do you actually care for everyone rights? or Are you really telling us what you believe we wanna hear? I believe most of the politicians are liars, deceivers, and just all about money. I'm not saying all but most. They tell you when they get in office there going to bring jobs, education, and etc. Then when they get in office they do the same thing the one we just vetoed out did.
I would to say to him, thank you. Thank you for creating such a huge change to America and trying so hard to maintain peace within the world.
Thank you for writing that inspiring children's book and thank you for showing that love and understanding is better. Thank you for treating humans like humans and supporting the gay community.
There are so much that I feel that we all can work on, but I respect and love your work so far. I know I'm a bit biased because I am a bleeding heart liberal, but I really do love you. Thank you for inspiring me.
Thank you so much. This is beautiful and exactly what I was thinking. Maybe a bit less harsh, but I for sure think the same things.
Americans, all of us, took a part in destroying the economy over four years and Obama has only had two. People expected him to barge right in and fix everything. People are so impatient and want instant results on serious, serious damage.
Come on, guys. That shit takes time.
Get your butt together along with your country!!
Loved your last line.

Pray for God's wisdom...you can't possibly do this without Him....thanks for taking the hardest job in the world!
We all need practical action, not unobtainable heavenly action. I would advise President Obama to keep doing what he is doing, ignore the extreme right wing, and keep true to your principles.
What are you doing to build a real job creation plan, we are tired of hearing about all the phoney plans that will not work. You haven't done anything since you have been in office. It's time time to help the working class people of America.
Take time and look at our website fightingformiddleclassamerica.com and you will understand our concerns.
