Is the government honest with us?

I was just wondering how everyone felt about the government and some of the "conspiracy's"? I dont know if this is the most appropriate topic but its an issue I think should be brought to more teens attention. I've seen videos and documentaries that make the government look awful and like complete liars. Some of these people have solid proof against the government about things like 9/11 and terrorism (youtube:9/11 coincidences). Also, i dont understand the whole lying about area 51 thing. I mean we all know it exists, there are plenty of pictures and actual documentaries of people finding it. Anyways just wanting to hear some others thoughts.

If you want to make sure the people have the power as a check and balance against the federal government and hold government accountable for their actions, see my dosomething project:

http://www.dosomething.org/project/national-initiative-democracy

The National Initiative for Democracy is a piece of legislation to give the people the power to legislate at all levels of government: local, state and national government proposed by a former Senator, Mike Gravel. Given this power, you could vote to impeach an elected official for their acts of wrongdoings.

You bring up a good point. I don't know a lot about details on area 51 or specific conspiracies, but there is corruption in the government, no doubt about that. There is lots of shady activity and a lot that the government doesn't tell us. But I think that in today's world, now, more than anything, we need to stay informed and find out what is and isn't true.
The media is just as bad as the politicians, what with all this anti-government propoganda, pro-government brainwashing, slanting right, slanting left... They fill their news with biases to try to win people over to "their side", and it's gotten to the point where people sometimes don't even think for themselves anymore. Whatever happened to just giving us the facts and letting us decide for ourselves, what to believe or not believe?

Teens are beginning to get more involved, which is awesome. If we all opened our eyes and ears to the world and really saw whats happening, we'd be more likely to nominate better leaders. Leaders who are more inclined to serve others and help the world than to engage in corruption, deceit, and lies. People complain a lot about the candidates we do have. Sometimes its not even a matter of who's a good candidate...sometimes, it literally is a question of "which one will be less corrupted and do less damage." I wish we had more young people in government positions...it's like people always say how you can only do stuff when you're older. Or they set age rules. WHY? Because they're afraid that teens(the ones that do care and are involved) are a threat to them and their set ways. They don't accept change easily, and change is what we need to bring to this country the most.

Your talking about a government that cant keep anything a secret, much less a conspiracy..

Now are they being honest with us....NO, they have their agenda's and they could careless about us.

While I am against the government I have to respect that sometimes they keep things from us because its just the better option. If people knew about everything that goes on I would have to think that it would be a catastrophe.
