Meet Your Meat.

i once saw this videothat was called "Meet Your Meat". It showed the ways that animals were killed for meat. It was horrible and i was determined to stop eating meat. I stopped eating any red meat. I feel so bad when i eat chicken and turkey. I encourage you to stop. watch the video. what do you think is the right thing to do?

If you are passionate about the cause, then you should definitely check out DoSomething's "What's Your Thing?" tab and find out ways to spread awareness about the cause!

I dont think i have the strength to stop eating meat cause love meat. So what I is eat less meat than i use to.
it is horrible that they cant even provide comfort for the animals in any way while and or before they get killed, but...is it complete history that humans eat meat, it has naturally been for us.OF COURSE IT IS A CHOICE BY ALL MEANS. I wondered as a child if you would go to hell for eating meat because it was indeed a dead animal, i also remember meat being explained to me when i was a young child that it was a dead animal that was killed, and i cried.parenting is definately a choice also, if you want to teach them what it really is at a young age and let them choose.I hate how when you talk about a very small animal being killed for meat or no perpose at all how people say "oh it was just a goldfish, or a mouse, or a bee" and im like!!!!!!!! they have just as much feeling as we do! regardeless of their size! ugh!
I remember when i was 7, it was raining and cold. cloudy and sad outside, i stand with a broken black umbrella ande a broken black heart over my cat "blaze" as he newly rested in his grave. i found him dead that morning.broken ribs and blood oozing from his mouth, and i now stand forth completely, more than anything against people in asia and whatnot about how they kill small dogs and cats and eat them, it could have been the neighbors best friend....
check out peta2.com. they have so many things you can do to help animals and earn cool stuff too. i think that stop eating some meat is a baby step to not eating meat at all. i've been a vegetarian for almost 5 months. it was easy!
~Forever VegHead~
I am a vegetarian so I don't eat meat. I have been one for about 9 months
no need to watch the video. i know. been vegitatian(no meat of any kind or fish) since the start of May.
honestly just think about what you're eating what you're doing to that poor pig or that little chicken. i LOVED meat and i ate it like it was nobody's buisness but once i started thinking then i stopped. still miss it but not as much as i thought i would (bacon's the hardest but smelling somethings tempting to) to all non-vegitarians try it a lest for a week don't make a big deal out of it then it'll be harder. just try.
I, my entire life, have never eaten meat, and I've seen the videos from PETA (however I do not support them). But, what really changed my view on the factory farms was a movie called "Earthlings" (it can be seen on google videos if you wish to watch).
This movie shows that the animals, without anesthetics, have parts of their bodies removed, the milking cows have hormones and pesticides in their systems, etc. It also shows that the Kosher meat, truly is not Kosher.
The thing is, is people will continue to believe that mankind needs to eat meat to survive (though this is not true-with a little research one can find that out) and will continue to do it. The "survival of the fittest," and "we need to keep the population of animals down" will always be used.
Mankind will, more than likely, eat meat for their entire existence and will continue to overlook the simple facts:
-Compared between carnivores and herbivores the human body more closely relates to herbivores
-Health-wise, it is healthier to not eat meat
-Soy actually does taste the same, it is going into it with a mindset that it is horrible that changes it
Plus many more.
(:
But, good job on giving up the red meat; I do imagine that other meats are harder to wean yourself off of.
Wow, that really does change my view on it.
I thought I couldn't live without eating meat.
Really, it may just be healthier for me not to with all the stuff they do to animals these days.
And it's not just our health that suffers for it.
Those poor animals!! They have feelings too!
I'm completely horrified. This is so wrong.
I've been a "vegequarian" (as I call it) for two years now. (That means I don't eat any animals on land, but I eat seafood.) I personally don't feel that there is "right" or "wrong" thing to do in this situation. If eating meat (or even specific meats) feels wrong to you, then it probably is... When I first stopped eating meat, it wasn't for the animals. It was because I had gotten out of a relationship with a guy and wanted a change, so instead of dying my hair, I changed the way I ate. And much to my surprise, I've felt GREAT ever since! As much as I love the animals, I'm still not doing it for them, I'm doing it for me. I've made this life-lasting decision, even though my entire family put me through hell and back because of this decision. Anyway, my point is that if anyone chooses to keep meat off of their plate, no matter what the reasons, make sure one of the reasons is because you're doing it for you. That's how I've made it last so far. I've seen many people stop eating meat for the animals, and unfortunately they only last a few weeks or months without meat.
I really want to try to become a vegetarian, I have in the past... but only for a few weeks. I love animals so much. and it kills me to see the videos of what they do to them. But it's really hard for me, I love meat, chicken.. chicken nuggets, fingers, hamburger, pork. I love it. But I want to stop, because I know it is bad for me and the animals.
I'm trying to watch Earthlings right now, and it's honestly killing me, it's making me sick to my stomach and crying my eyes out. I don't know when the next time i can eat meat will be.
I love eating meat.................., i love the taste and texture, do i like the killing of animals. nope, but i like catching fish
If you and everyone else stop eating ham and bacon there would be NO pigs, their would be no reason for their existance the same goes for cows/beef, chickens, i dont see chicken's as house pets, i dont see pig rodeo's.
The hunting regulations are to control population, when hunting has been banned, populations went wild and hunting was re-imposed, farm animals cannot survive now in the wild and would become instinct. you guys are funny
So when pigs become a endangered species i guess you will crying your eyes out about that also....
i do not think that taking the life of one animal is the end of the world. Native Americans believed that we could kill animals as long as we kept a balance i agree as long as the balance stays and we don't kill off an entire species as we have done and come close to. i believe you should do what you have to do to keep food on the table for your family but keep a balance
I don't think taking the life of an animal is right but at the same time I eat meat. I know it is wrong but I think its that were a generation brought up to not think about where the meat we eat comes from so if you really feel strongly about this I urge you to make a change in the matter.
So, pblinds, are you stating that tigers are going to go extinct because we don't eat them? Are pigeons going to go extinct because we don't eat them?
Rethink your "logic."
Farm animals can just as easily be pets as they can food.
Before you make a point, think about it, because what you said can completely be turned against you.
Logic...... when was the last time i saw tiger meat in the meat dept...NEVER, i have never seen Pigeon meat either...
There is a reason why they call them farm Animals and not Pets or wildlife.
How many people do you know cjh61491 that have a pig, chicken, goat or a Cow for a PET??.......NONE
I grew up with friends who's parents were farmers, When the price for pigs were down and not profitable they slaughtered all the pigs and switched to somehting else, when the price of beef is down, Cows are either not purchased or once again slaughtered, because it cost money to feed cows, chickens, pigs and horses.
You didnt turn anything around on me, 99% of all farm animals born, raised and killed are on this earth for one reason and that is to FEED the world

Uh...I have them as pets. So, needless to say, that statement was a fail-Feel free to try again.
Linds, your ignorance is uncanny, may I add.
Oh, one more thing, Linds, "If you and everyone else stop eating ham and bacon there would be NO pigs, their would be no reason for their existance the same goes for cows/beef, chickens, i dont see chicken's as house pets, i dont see pig rodeo's."
Please cite where this is a fact.
Also, you should probably improve on your grammar just a tad.

woah cjh61491 relax!
i feel the need to be in agreement with this guy--> cjh61491
The point of the video "meet your meat" is to inform the public about the monstrosities that occur to non-free-range animals and the direct effects it has on America by being an unsanitary and unregulated source of food growth and preparation.
Not only is the treatment of these animals inhumane and absolutely unnecessary, but the way they are processed after slaughter is a disgrace and a betrayal to humanity. Those who choose to eat not only meat, but most artificially grown veggies and fruits are at risk daily to harmful preservatives and chemicals that are pumped into these animals and crops. Most of what is being processed by large companies is diseased and unfit for human consumption. The main infectious chemicals found in our meat are NUTRICIDES/Cancer causing chemicals right in our daily food consumption (which is not regulated properly by the government and is proven purposely overlooked).
This is over production that produces harmful products... harmful both for animal and man. This system is not normal and it is not the way we have to farm and produce our meat. We need to start supporting local farmers and eat only what is in season and continue telling our government that this is not what we want to surround ourselves with. If you eat meat, eat only free-range animals that are on a natural diet and live a natural and typical life.
This form of production is a direct result of our nations growing obsession with fast food and over time as we see more deaths from improperly produced meats and crops more people will take notice... in fact, I am confident that a lot already have. We just need to practice what we preach even when it seems that we don't have any other option, because we do.
I've been a vegitarian for over two years now, and as long as you do it right, it really isn't all that hard. I feel healthier, and good about myself. I'm proud that in a small way i'm standing up for animals. It's a personal choice but i promise you'll feel good about yourself if you make the choice
PBlinds- Could you provide us with the statistics that demonstrate that lack of hunting causes animals to overpopulate, and cite where you obtained these statistics? I, and I think everyone else here, would be very interested to see this.
Madisonn, have you tried faux meats? You might find that these products may help you as you transition to a new diet.
For an example, Yves Veggie Rounds make replacing hamburger very simple, healthy, and tasty. My father, who does consume farm animals, uses this product as well as my sister who is a strict vegetarian.
While it is not a wise suggestion to become vegetarian simply by replacing your meat with these products, they are quick and easy to use and are useful for those new to vegetarian diets particularly as they begin to learn more about vegetarian health and nutrition.
You will want to keep in mind that these products are still very processed, but there are wide arrays of vegetarian "meats" at most common grocery stores. You can even experiment at home to make your own. There are plenty of recipes available online and in books available at your local library.
Ashy, I appreciated your post.
Stop eating meet period. So much cruelty comes to defenseless animals
I love to eat meat and I will never stop eating it. I do not condone the abuse and slaughter of helpless defenseless animals that is why I only eat all natural wild caught meat.
You probably don't realize this but humans did not always live in this concrete jungle where everything is mass produced (which by the way I am totally against this unnatural way of living).
If people lived naturally they way we should be then all this talk of killing helpless animals would not even exist.
Trust me when I say that fruits and vegetables only grow in certain environments and if the climate and temperature is not right you guys will starve to death unless to kill something to eat it.
I eat meat because it is a reminder that GOD sent his son Jesus to be slaughtered on the cross so that His blood can cover our sins.
So before you go off condemning people for eating meat you need you ask yourself how you relate to the universe and what the true purpose of life is.

I'm sorry,but I couldn't...
What I do is I try to eat less meat and I have "Meatless Mondays". Keep up the good work.
I love to hear people are doing this! I am a full-fledged, life-long vegetarian solely for the animals and environment. I understand, however, how hard it can be to give up meat completely. Thank you so much for you efforts!!!
