While the economy is looming over all of this issues, its important to realize there's lots of work to do. For me education needs some serious help, and thats a huge reason why I personally voted for Obama. Its essential that he finds a way to help out our youth, who is our future, and who are already making a huge impact. I think its doubly important that he reach out on education, because it is due in LARGE part to the youth voters that Obama has been elected into office.
So GO OBAMA! But here we go get ready for a lot of work!
In a crippled economy, no issue can be tackled fully... as a result, I think the economy should be the first issue Obama should take on.
I think Obama already did something pretty major last night: He brought the country together.
Now the first order of business -- before he even takes office -- is to help make America repair its relationship with the rest of the world. It is a small world, afterall -- and America must show that we aren't a bully but a well-intentioned leader in the global community.
He should focus on the economy first. That's got Americans at 100% anxiety level right now.
ENERGY ENERGY ENERGY!
Renewable energy = green jobs = no dependency on foreign oil = less war = healthier people and lower medical costs = affordable healhcare for all.
WORLD CRISIS SOLVED.
God, I impress myself.
I think he should quit and give McCain the job he deserves it. McCain has actually served in our war and been held prisaner for years. Hes also verry experianced. While Obama wants war to stop and hes prob ganna get us bombed again or have a plane come threw the empire statebuilding. He`ll prob plan it since hes friends with terrorists, the tarrorists will prob convince him. He also wants to give free health care and collage but its not ganna be free because NOTHING is free so weres he ganna get the money the tax payers whos that...........US!!!!! So he`ll raise the tax`s 50% wich is ALOT MORE THEN IT ALREADY IS. but hey we dont have to work cuz the poor wint have to pay the rich will pay for us since hes ganna raise the taxs fpr the rich people so no ones ever ganna want to be rich i dont hat obama i just hate how he thinks
McCain girl, you seriously have to stop spreading these lies. The claims that Obama is friends with terrorists is ridiculous, unsupported propaganda.
Yes, Obama wants universal health care, which does not equate to free health care. And, no, he doesn't want to make college free, he's willing to help people out but they have to give something in exchange - 100 hours of community service.
And where did you get that he's going to raise taxes by 50%? Yes, he's going to tax the rich more. Why shouldn't he? A large portion of the country's wealth is in the hands of a few and they earned their money here so they should have to pay more... not the average person who is stretching his pennies to pay his bills.
I think that because the country cannot move forward with such a struggling economy that should be the first priority for Obama. Money makes the world go round.
"That one" won!!!
Our economy is crumbling. The troops are still in Iraq. He's not superman. And we can't expect the world from him, but what we can expect from Pres. Elect, Barack Obama, is change, as he's stated plenty of times. We couldn't afford the same nonsense that has been going on for the past 8 years. McCain wasn't a bad choice, but that definitely changed after he decided Sarah Palin should be his VP. She ruined it for him, enough said. But back to the topic, the economy needs to be taken care of. People who are running these huge industries, people who are at fault for the huge drop in our economy are still being paid millions of dollars. I believe in what Barack Obama says he can do. There's a reason why he was elected President, he's brought the country together. We as a whole can make this country what we yearn for it to be. And as Obama says "We may not get there in one year or even one term, but America - I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight, that we will get there" YEAH BOYY :)
I think that he should first tackle the economy problems then do something about animal testing in labs or the way animals are treated at slaughterhouses/meat industry
I agree with WriterGirl75, cdbirkenhead with the animal abuse (I'm a vegetarian) VDAWGx23, MIleyFan94, usherfan, and aashton. But, he should really encourage the world to make peace!!! Everyone, no matter what of the, at the least 42 political parties should send a letter to Barack Obama to ask him to promote peace all over the world!!! And yes, i'm a hippie.
The financial problem is there.First of all, Mr.President should know what is most importance and what he need to do. Why the mission of economy save more importance than others? As i know, financial crisis is making consumers confidence to downward. That will impact the travel of U.S. recovery became strenuous. Government spent large sum of money ( i think that was over 1000 billions) to salvage economy and acquire banks which are bankrupt. Can i ask a question, how can government spending for community without any capital?
I think obama with do alot of amazing things to this country!!..but the first thing i think he will do is getting out of the war..and thats what he should do...GO OBAMA!!!!!
I recently wrote this to my local news website.
I called it
"dear Mr. Barack Obama"
In order for change, you need to start with "Your Fellow Americans!" America has some cruel and undeserved living people out there who like to inflict hurt, destruction, murder, etc. I read and editorial today in my Journalism class, and this person said it all. He/She explained how if people would just do simple tasks like shovel your neighbors sidewalk along with yours, visited a senior home, greeted a stranger, that things would change. I extremely agree with this, because maybe these acts of kindness and love would soon rub off on others.
I understand, it does sound to good to be true. But maybe, just maybe, a miracle would happen. And the people of the United States would only kill with kindness. Just something worth living for is watching something like this happen. I support the DO SOMETHING cause. And I want to DO SOMETHING About America!
He has to address the credit crunch first, he can't afford to do everything he has promised without jobs and taxpayer dollars. He needs to ensure major business, and keep the unemployment rate down before he can think about colleges and healthcare.
I think there are a lot of issues Obama needs to face, but he's probably going to have to fix the economy as much as he can and pull out of Iraq first. After he deals with those, then I think he should work on education and healthcare as those are really in shambles right now. He should also close Gitmo ASAP and stop the human rights abuses in this country. And MileyFan94, yes, green jobs will help a lot.
NO MORE WAR IN IRAQ!!!! PEACE OUT!!!! MAKE LOVE NOT WAR!!!!!
