Some schools discriminate ALOT.
Should the teachers do the same as the teens do?
Is it right for teachers to do this?
NOT AT ALL.
Just like racism, discriminating against people who can't help what they are, is WRONG.
Black people didn't choose to be black, it just happened, so why discriminate them for it?
If you agree with the above, think the same for gays, bisexuals, etc.
Gay people didn't choose to be gay, it just happened, so why treat them any differently then you would a straight person?

i agree, schools should not be able to judge anybody of race, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, disabilities as well as reputations of the child or their family however this all happens, i dont think your sexual orientation is anything to be able to judge somebody because of, it it not thier choice that they like the same sex its biological unfortunitly homophobia is very common and i for one do not understand why.

I totally agree..if a student is gay, bisexual, or lesbian, why discriminate..love is love, whether its girl&girl, boy&boy, or girl&boy..students should not be discriminated against simply becuase of their sexuality!
I Agree with all of you. On sexual orientation and race. It saddens me because at my school there are a few teachers that are racist.

I agree, discrimanation agains gays is horrible. I have aunts who are lesbian, and there are many other kids who have relations to gay, bisexuals, ect. If schools tought against it, than many more people than anticipated would be offended.
im a strong believer on all of you; everyone has a rgiht to do what they want with their lives, and i personaly think schools should't try to change that, like for instance i got introuble for holding hands with a girl at my school a while ago. they told me they will expell me if they see it again. how right is that?
It is hard for me to even fathom why people can't understand how people can be gay. I've heard it refered to as a sickness. It's amazing how people have the audacity to criticize people for who they are.
why discriminate against others when they r just following there heart. No one chooses to like who they like they just do it happens so what if its same sex. I love my gay friends they are still people and they r still the same people they were before they were gay. Sometimes i may not understand why they are gay but i will NEVER discriminate schools shouldnt either its unjust.
People discriminate against others all the time. Not a day goes by where I don't hear the word gay used in a sentence by ignorant people. Its spreading discrimination , people don't think before they speak (especially teenagers) and once the siblings of those teenagers hear them saying those words then they are going to think it is right.People are getting more and more ignorant everyday.
i agree with that they should not be discriminated against i have a friend who is gay and he is so sweet and is just like everyone else but he likes guys and im ok with that personaly im straight but that doesnt mean anything
I actually just had an arguement about this in my Civics class, I feel it is not fair at all and shouldn't happen! Just because someone is gay or bi or lesbian or whatever doesn't change their intelligence or anything like that. It's like racism, just because somoene is black doesn't make them any different from the white person that is in the same class and at the same level of intelligence... Same with gays/bis/lesbians vs straights, nothing changes, its just what gender they prefer to date. That changes nothing that has to do with school at all... Everyone is different in this world and people need to learn to accept that and stop being complete A**holes about it.

okay just cuz i choose to like the same sex doesnt mean im a freak so yeah i think schools shouldnt do that but some do.like the school i go to wont even let gays or lesbians go to dances together.that hurts because just cuz im gay doesnt mean i should be singled out.i think if straight people get the freedom to dance together then us gay people should to.
No. My tech ed teacher HATES gays, lesbians, and bis. He is very annoying when he says "The good Lord didn't make us that way. He made it one man and one woman." So, me & my friends will dress up in a bunch of gay rights clothing. =D
I think its not fair for people to discriminate at all. Really, thing is with what MCRandA7X4life is saying is not true, because the thing is, you are the way you are from the start, so if there is a god (not to say there is or isn't) then he clearly made us like this for a reason. A lesbian friend of mine believes that god put us here to control over population because we cannot have our own children in a same sex relationship. I'd have to agree as much as straight religious people are against it, it makes sense, Doesn't it?

I don't think teachers should say anything. They are there to teach not to comment on anyone's sexuality. I am not ashamed that I am bi and I don't think teachers should make me feel any different because they are acouple of teachers who are bi,gay,les etc. In most cases though alot of people will give you crap for being who you are. Teachers shouldn't focus on a students sexuality they should focus on giving the children and education._ XoXo gigglyheart♥
No they shouldn't. But in all actually some do. I've seen principals suspend two boys for kissing in the hallway saying there is a no PDA policy. While a girl and boy was kissing right in front of his office. He didn't say anything to them. This truly isn't fair.
No, I don't think it's any of the teacher's business. gay or straight, we are still equal. The schools should not discriminate any person. And from what I have heard from my teacher who is a nun, (I have classmates who are gay) it is not wrong to be gay, being gay itself is not a sin. What makes it wrong is having premarital sex. My teachers don't even give a damn if there are lesbians in my school, as long as they don't have unhealthy relationships... Schools shouldn't butt in.
I think this is something to be aware of because things like this will always be around. The fact is that some people are still ignorant toward the fact that some people are gay or lesbian or bi, and even transgenders. Its up to us to raise awareness of this and to stay on top of it so in the future, future generation won't have to deal with this. Kids will always go to school and its wrong to discriminate against them just because of their choice of sexuality. What people have to realize is that in the end no one is better than anyone else.
My school is extremely racist, homophobic, and basically....against anything that they aren't. Even some of the teachers make homophobic comments. In my opinion this is one-hundred percent wrong. Why should we be hated for who we are? Why should people hate people that stand up for what they believe in? It's wrong. And it's none of the teachers' business who a student loves.
Teachers are role models.they should be punnished if they are doing any discriminating, wether its gender/percieved gender,sexuality,religion,race,etc.

Yea, I totally agree with everyones argument. Discrimination of any kind is partly the reason why I wanted to be a part of this organization. There is too much hate in this world and it's good to know that people esp. the younger generation is trying to do something about it.
Sexual Orientation is a personal choice. People may not like it but they need to respect it. It is illegal for any teacher to voice their opinion about race because it could affect the way young individuals think about it themselves. The same thing applies for how a teacher feels about Sexual Orientation. I am Bi-Sexual and 3 out of 4 of my teachers except it. But all of my teachers know. I am very open with my sexuality and I voice it very openly. One day I had teachers come to me and tell me that it is a very inappropriate subject and that I am not allowed to discuss it at all on school property. Later that day I got suspended for talking about it. My Mother went straight to the school board and it didn't end very well... How can it be that teachers can discuss slavery and things about race but when it comes to sexuality, that subject is taboo? At this age in middle school, and throughout high school kids are trying to figure out their Sexual Orientation. How are we going to figure out who we are if we cant have open discussions about something that will effect us for the rest of our lives?

NO, NO, and NO. Seriously guys, people should NOT be discriminated against. And no, dancing_naked, I disagree with you. People should NOT be confronted about their sexuality. That's their personal business- something teachers shouldn't be prying into. Besides, there's nothing wrong with being gay and that's coming from someone who's straight. It makes me sad that it's 2010 and we continue to face hate and discrimination and confrontation where equality and peace and love should reign.
