Should Zoos give more freedom to the animals

I think they should in order to let the animals prosper

what you see in zoo's,aquariams &circues isn't natrural
any way ,so what's the point of having them.i think that
animals should be freed from ALL types of prisons-treated well or not

I think the point of having zoos, is that it gives endangered animals a sort of safe haven, because the organisations behind the zoos are providing a similar habitat to that if they were in the wild. Its right to give animals freedom, but zoos also help by increasing species numbers and they have breeding programmes, and the organisations who provide the zoos are also thinking about the future, they want to prevent extinction amoungst certain species. So there are good things about zoos but there are also bad things, in terms of freedom and such

In a way zoos are kind of like a safe place for animals but i mean sometimes the naimals arent treated very well. Most of the time they're just used for entertainment and our enjoyment. Now that should stop.

Weirdo?*&^$%

The problem with zoos is that if they were all closed down and forsed to let all the animals free many of those animals would die because they dont know how to survive in the "wild". I think zoos should let animals be a little more free but most importantly serve as a home for endagered species like angelicca mentioned above. She makes a really good point.

I HATE zoos. I have been to Africa. I have seen animals in their real homes--outside without bars! I totally cannot handle seeing tigers in cages now or monkeys in fake jungle gyms. Why do we think its okay to lock up these free animals?

I actually just watched a report on the news about this the other night here in Los Angeles. The report was on Elephants. The amount of space at a zoo is not enough for one elephant yet sometimes they have ten in the space they have. Elephants need lots of space to roam or they develop problems with their feet which ultimately leads to their death. Senator Calderon of California is actually making a huge push to get over 100 acres outside of Los Angeles to have a satellite zoo for elephants so they can survive. I thought this was great! Kudos to Ron S. Calderon.

I don't like zoos, seeing all of those cages. But they are okay If they are really humane, encloseures, not cages!

i think each zoo is different in the way that they treat their animals. there are definitely too many that aren't humane. before i go to a zoo next, i am definitely going to investigate their treatment policies. i think the circus is probably worse though.

zoos should have them live more in their wild habbitat and make them have too look at least a little bit for food so they dont starve and leaarn some inportant traits.

i like go to the zoo and all but you make agood point.and im talking about the elaphant 1. they need more space. i think they should keep the zoos up and running but have less animals. like have 2-4 elaphants, maybe a tiger or 2, and for animals that live in herds they can have 4-5 animals instead of having 9 or 10. cause i love animals and i love to see them at the zoo but it just not fair for the animals.

In a zoo where my live, they sometimes focus more on animals like elephants, and give them REALLY GOOD enclosures, while the giraffes have a TINY amount of space and there's around 7 of them. While the elephants have toys and playthings, the giraffes have nothing!!! One giraffe is so bored, that every time I go to see them at the zoo, he's always liking the side of the wall, and he's been doing that for 10 years! Zoo's need to give EQUAL HUMANE TREATMENT to ALL ANIMALS!!!

animals in zoos are caged up like prisoners. some people think that their just animals who cares but animals are just like humans they have feelings and in zoos it feels just like jail to them.even though their keeping them safe that dosent mean that they should just be thankful that were helping them out. animals deserve to be free and this is a free country

even if zoos , aquariams etc treat their animals well, i do not believe it is right to keep wild animals in captivity. and it is sick to make them miserable and use them for our entertainment. they dont belong there and cant escape.

i dont like zoos. its us stressing out endangered species for cheap entertainment. the enclosures are so small and unnatural. they dont belong anywhere they cant live their lives. its not right to keep animals in captivity permanently or for long periods of time. or any length of time unless necessary. especially large animals like hippos, elephants, giraffes, and whales at aquariums

I don't support zoos or circuses, the one zoos I have been to are ones where the animals have free-range. It depresses me to see such beautiful animals smashed in tanks and cages, it's disgusting. Most animals are neglected in their cages and they are left out in the heat. Many animals are not capable of being comfortable of the environments they're put in- no matter how natural their man-made habitat is.

I disagree when you say the zoos should stay up and running, there are many more ways us humans can get entertainment from animals these days....ever watch animal planet? where the animals aren't being stuck in small cages and miserably sitting in uncomfortable enclosures?

having animals caged up like thats isnt healthy speacially because the people do it ti gain money............

i think the zoo need to give animals more freedom. just like people, animals dont like to be caged up all day every day. its not healthy

i beleve they should make realistic habatats instead it would be better for the animal's sake

The current animals in zoos may need to be taken care of in sanctuaries which deal with these populations if they can't be reaclimated to the wild by rehabers. However, more animals do not need to be brought into these situations. Look at what happened to Knut, the bear, who showed signs of acute mental distress and recently died. Animals aren't meant to be confined and aren't there for people's amusement and curiousity. There is a saying that goes something like: humans aren't the only species, they just think they are.....
