The issue of self confidence amongst young women today

I am almost 16 years old and attend an all girls private Catholic High School. Over the course my 3 years at an all girls school I have noticed a major issue in our society that suprisingly, has recieved little efforts or attention to combat it. This poison filtering in the minds of young girls everywhere is low self confidence. Although seemingly trite, there are many causes for this issue, and it has impacted our society in a severely negative way. I feel like the promblem of drastic increases in low self esteem amongst young women has become uncontrolable. It has honesly become an unheard of blessing to love yourself and exert confidence. I do not know any young women or role models of my age who posses undeniable confidence. This, i hope you agree, is a problem, and im prepared to find a solution.

I agree, & this is _most defiantly_ not trite. Unfortunately, there's no easy answer to this problem, because there are so many ways a girl can get low-self confidence - internet, magazines, movies, TV, and at home & school - that I don't think that _anyone_ could filter them all. I'm surprised though, because you go to an all-girl's school, which are often boasted as having girls who have higher self-confidence...

That's why we have these forms so that we could boost these younf adults confidence. In many cultures the girls, women are regarded as a subservent being. Which is crushing to their self-esteem.

I am in this wonderful program called Girls on Track, it is a running program that focuses alot on self confidence. We talk about staying "Out of the girl box". The "girl box" is the place girls go when they believe that they are not good enough, or that no one likes them. We focus on many different tips for example: make a list of thing that you like about yourself, and then post it somewhere you can see it every day. Let it remind you that you are beautiful just the way you are and love yourself the way you are!

It is so true that this is a huge issue. Check out the following video for why it is absolutely NOT trite, on any account:

When I feel self confidence drop, I check out my "quote wall". I compiled sticky notes on my computer dashboard (a Mac app) that make me feel breathtaking (a word which I take to mean beautiful, passionate, and filled with joy). Examples:
"Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius, and it is better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring." -Marilyn Monroe.
"Life is short. Forgive quickly. Kiss slowly. Love Truly. Laugh uncontrollably. And never regret anything that made you Smile."
-Cupcake Brown
"To live is so startling it leaves little time for anything else."
-Emily Dickinson
May all of our inner beauty shine through.
