What Would Politics Do?
Granted, there exist politicians who strive towards the improvement of our society... however, it is the majority who perpetuate conflicts between groups.
Instead of championing the issues of the people, their concern has been relegated to their security in their next election. In these cases, promises are made to be broken. It is also rare to stumble upon those who risk their political careers to promote a righteous cause.
"What is popular is not always right, and what is right is not always popular."
A person who is willing to sacrifice their career in order to serve the greater good is what we require of a politician. They have been elected to represent us, not on a nation-scale, but an international one as well.
The old saying of "divide and conquer" never resonated anywhere else. With democrats and republicans bickering over the issues and dividing political bases, it's almost impossible to begin a change.
Instead standing up for their own beliefs and promoting positive change for the people who have elected to represent them, they've become almost subservient to their party, continuing traditional stances.
Now, this is not all politicians, but some of them ruin the reputation and distort what it means to be a public servant.
It's important to me to hear your thoughts on this. Whether you disagree, agree, or hold any other stance, feel free to express it here.
