Interning at Do Something is a great way to learn the ins and outs of the not-for-profit world, work in a fun and young office environment and get great work experience. We give our interns tons of responsibility and are also known to have brownie bake-offs every once in awhile...Our offices are located in Union Square, NYC.
HIGH SCHOOL INTERNSHIPS - GENERAL OFFICE HELP
We have full-time unpaid internships for high school students in 1-2 week increments. We're accepting applications on a rolling basis, so apply ASAP by sending an e-mail to mbellinger@dosomething.org with:

WEB CONTENT VOLUNTEER
Reports to: Director of Technology
Description:
Interested in website content design? Want to learn how to work with visual content on the web? Think teens can change the world? Do Something is looking for a number of unpaid interns this summer to help develop, edit, and layout our cause content and pages as we transition to an awesome new site. You’ll have the opportunity to learn the basics of webpage design and layout, and viral marketing applications across various social networks.
Responsibilities:
- Post cause content on dosomething.org following our style guide
- Act as a final proof reader for content and link testing
- Miscellaneous web and office tasks as necessary
Qualifications:
- Proficient in Word
- Willing to bring in personal laptop HUGE plus
- Keen interest in young people changing their world
- Must be responsible and self-motivated
- Interest in innovation, brainstorming, all things creative, etc…
- Play nicely with others
Hours/Availability:
- July 2008
- 2-4 weeks
- 9:30am – 5:30pm

WEBSITE PROGRAMMER
Part time: 3 days/week summer
Do Something is a not for profit internet company that helps young people change the world. We believe young people have the power to make a difference. It is our aim to inspire, support and celebrate a generation of do-ers: people who see the need to do something, believe in their ability to get it done, and then take action.
Responsibilities:
Helping to expand and improve dosomething.org
Programming and maintaining small/medium sized web applications
Helping manage servers and database integrity
Requirements:
- 4-year college degree (3rd and 4th yr students can apply)
- Knowledge of the following languages: html (w3c compliant), css, Object-Oriented php, mySQL
- Knowledge of facebook app developer, Javascript, Drupal a plus
- Knowledge of the following software: Dreamweaver, Flash a plus...
- Keen interest in young people changing their world
- Interest in innovation, brainstorming, all things creative, etc…
- Play nicely with others: ability to work with a team…
