Being Part of the Solution

The project allows young women of color to come together learn about HIV/AIDS, its impact on the community, and other sexual reproductive health issues, and then educate the community on the learned informaion through workshops, community forums, school visitations, and community events. The objective is to raise the awareness first in the immediate community, then in the state, and hopefully throughout the nation. HIV infects 40,000 people each year and there are approximately over 1 million infected with the virus in the United States alone.

Do it on your own Rick!

Encourage students not to drop school because its really important and without it you'll never keep up with society. For example, if you want to buy the brand name clothing, you'll have to buy less of one (Example: a cheaper living and also a cheaper car too). If you don't want this to happen to you, get some kind of education (Examples: A two year degree or even a certification on whatever u like) something better than nothing. If you don't get some kind of education you suffer or be thinking " I had the chance to study but I didn't take the opportunity, now I don't have anything?"

Martin Luther King's Camp/Diversity Week

The Martin Luther King Youth Program

The over-arching goal of the Martin Luther King Youth Program is to inspire and empower high school students to become effective advocates and allies for peaceful social change on issues of violence, prejudice and discrimination.

The MLK Program is a product of the work of the Ceceilyn Miller Institute for Leadership and Diversity in America (CMI). The CMI is a human relations, consulting, and training non-profit organization. We are dedicated to helping individuals, groups, and systems function more effectively as people and communities.

Steps to a Smart Driver

An important method to increase awareness is to advertise at High Schools. This would be effective because the advertisement directly targets the driving teenage group. An assembly called Steps to a Smart Driver should be held once a year in local high schools. The assembly should comprise a power point of the steps and a video called “Victims of Drunk and reckless Driving”. Brochures and a key chain as a reminder to drive smart should also be distributed to students.
Bumper cars are for carnivals

For my idea i would like to create bumper stickers that say something like:
if you can read this you're too close!
(that will be in small letters, so only the people who are actually too close can read it.)
A safe distance is always a car length behind.

That way not only does the driver reading the bumper sticker know that he is too close he also now knows the safe distance to drive and/or drive behind another car in order to help prevent bumper to bumper accidents, that can be easily prevented.
