Mission of Hope Haiti 2008

This summer I am planning a mission trip to Haiti with the youth group at my church. I recently became an assistant leader for the youth group at my church and plan all the activities for my youth group. I have had a love for missions for the last couple years and I hope to start the same trend with the youth at my church. There are so many countries and people out there who need love and support from us. I had the chance to go to Haiti last year with a team and this year I am so blesses to be able to plan my own trip.

City of Milpitas Talent Show: "Milpitas' Got Talent"

The Milpitas Youth Advisory Commission presents the City of Milpitas Talent show, "Milpitas' Got Talent." This city-wide talent show hopes to bring together the youth of Milpitas on a common ground, self-expression through art. All the youth of the city ranging from ages 12-21 are encouraged to audition to show off their talents in a friendly yet competitive competition for $100. Acts will consist of bands, dance groups, hip-hop groups, singers, acoustic music groups, and solo instrumentals. All ticket sale proceeds will go to our charity of choice, Child Advocates of Silicon Valley.

Putting Smiles on Childrens Faces

We, as a community, should go out to Children's Hopitals and specifically see those children who have cancer. We should play with them and make them laugh and show them love and kindness because some of those kids are in a lot of pain and want to give up at times. We should encourage them and love them so that they can forget about the pain and the hurt, if only for a moment. We should try and light up there lives again and make them feel special. We should sing with them songs of encouragement and dance and play board games, cards, or make up games with them.

The Fab4 Hip Hoppers

The Fab4 Hip Hoppers is a group of four smart kids who want to teach other kids how to dance and sing. We want to improve our community and the way we talk to each other. We want to bring the shy kids out so they won't think they're alone, and so we can teach them that they always have someone to come to. It's a way to get exercise out of fun, and it calms you down.

Rising Stars

Rising Stars is a dance program that I direct for children with neuromuscular disorders. It is a non-profit organization funded solely on a grant from community donors. Currently, the Rising Stars program consists of five dancers and nine volunteers. The dancers range in age from 5 to 16 and have varying limitations. Volunteers help the girls with limited mobility to move their arms, wheelchairs, and walkers, as well as choreograph dances for the recital at the end of the year.

Encore Musical Revue

Encore is a student run/ performed musical revue that is performed as a benefit concert. Students and alumni of the Beaver Dam High school get together in August to put on a concert of songs from Broadway musicals. the concert has been running for 5 years, and has raised over $20,000 for the High school's music and drama programs. As I said this is a student run show. we have no adults helping us whatsoever! Music is arranged and taught by myself. The show director and choreographer oversee dance and stage presence.
