Tennis Love

Through my struggle in making the Girls' Varsity Tennis Team I have learned the invaluable lesson that with hard work and determination, I can accomplish anything. In addition, I have also discovered that making a difference in people's lives by teaching proper tennis technique is the most important experience I've had in my tennis career. Coaching beginner tennis players makes me proud and it also relates to the patient, determined, and goal oriented person that I am.

Tucker, my husband was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in the spring of 2006. One of the most devastating effects of the disease is not knowing how you got it, or exactly how to cure it. Unable to answer some of these hard questions, we turned to health issues that we are able to control – healthy eating habits and regular exercise. We both share a love for the city of Memphis and are very disturbed to find that numerous studies indicate our city to be the unhealthiest.

Make a Difference Day
Saturday, October 27th
9:00am to 12:00pm
Meeting Site: Bufferlands. A map will be included when you register.

If you want an exciting project this is the one for you!

This isn’t your everyday planting! Volunteers for this day will have the opportunity to participate in tons of different activities! Volunteers will be out in the Bufferlands reestablishing native plants and trees. We will be planting 50 acorns, native shrubs and grasses, and 150 small trees.

Big South Fork Volunteer Day

Big South Fork NRRA, like many of our national parks, is facing a tremendous budget shortfall. This day of volunteering in the park will provide much-needed support to the park.

This event, sponsored by CHS SPEAK (Cookeville High School Students Promoting Environmental Action and Knowledge), will bring together concerned citizens from all across Tennessee and Kentucky. Please join us for this historic day of giving back to our park.

Volunteer on the Pacific Crest Trail

Come out and join an AmeriCorps trail crew on the expansive and breathtaking Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail. Trail projects span from Southern California to Northern Washington, encompassing some of the most remarkable areas the West has to offer. Drainage control, brush cutting, and the construction of specialized trail structures are just a few of the tasks that you will be performing on this widely used path. In return for your worth while service, your trail crew provides gourmet food, tools, safety equipment and training free of charge.

Plant A Tree!!!

At Paint Lick Elementary, the children in the After School Program thought it would be a good idea to plant several trees around the school to improve our educational environment! So we got promission from our principal to plant seven trees all around our school. We picked out seven different areas that our trees would grow well in!
