Children bring in pocket change or gently used/new items that are realted to extra curricular activities for children. Items such as sport equipment, dance shoes and costumes, cleets, toys, games, balls, gloves, uniforms etc. The items are sold or used to provide the equipment for the children. The funds are used to give disadvantaged/at risk children extra curricular scholarships to local activity facilities.

Project Christmas

I will collect donations from the people at my church and then hand the things out a few days before Christmas to the impoverish people in my community so that they can get something for Christmas, like an outfit or a gift.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Club

As of now, I am working with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Frederick County, my high school, and Do Something to start up a Big Brothers Big Sisters Club. I have recently recieved approval from Do Something to start this club and hope to get things underway in early September once school starts. Big Brothers Big Sisters is a community organization that pairs underpriveledged children from the area with mentors. While the mentors are usually adults, Frederick County's BBBS organization has a major shortage of willing adults. Because of this, they are offering teen mentoring programs.

Toys 4 Peace

Afghanistan is one of the poorest countries in the world; while the media covers it, it still remains forgotten. Quite recently, Africa has obtained a lot of aid and media coverage for AIDS virus, Darfur, poverty, ect. Yet Afghanistan remains in a shadow, only shown on today's media for terrorism. The children of Afghanistan suffer from not only a poor country, but one stuck in the center of a deadly war. They've grown up to the sound of gunshots and bombs, and to the feeling of fear. Many themselves have been caught in a bombing or shooting, and now suffer life damage.
