It is difficult for children today to make the right choices when it comes to healthy eating, especially in an urban setting. Just down the street from our elementary school are two pizza shops, a McDonald's, Taco Bell, and Kentucky Fried Chicken. Simply walking home from school in need of a snack will undoubtedly tempt them to eat something with high fat content and little nutritional value. Many parents are uneducated about proper nutrition and pass along poor eating habits to their children. When picking a child up from school, it is all too easy to cruise through the drive-in window.

arts for tots

Arts for tots is a non-profit organization created to help underpriveledged children get exposed to the arts. such as dance, theatre, music and art. an esacpe for kids to get away from their lives and have fun with something that they like to do.subcategories will bw given in the different fields of study such as if the kids wanted to try ballet they could. all forms of arts will their from different forms of writing to paintings and their will be a showcase of all their work at the end of the year. where some procedes will go to better the organization and the other will go to charity.

The Xtreme Vehicle Challenge

As a science teacher, my main goal is to motivate and push my students to achieve great things in everything they pursue. One project I have designed to encourage and motivate students in the fields of physics and physical science is The Xtreme Vehicle Challenge. Through this project my physics and physical science students will compete with other physics and physical science students throughout the county in head-to-head competitions using various vehicles they have designed and built.

Increase Reading Skills by Learning to be a Safe Driver

The idea started because my mom is a 3rd grade teacher. We talk about how to be safer driver on the way to school and the question came up how we could start knowing what situations to expect and what to do about them before they happen. As we discussed different situations and what we would do if we were put in them she decided to try it out on her students to help them become better readers. My mom made comic strips of safe driving proceedures that covered her class reading skills, such as (i.e.
