The Nzinga Sisterhood Circle

While our mission is the develop unity, cultural awareness, and a stable support line for women of the African Diaspora, we encourage diverse participation. Women of the African Diaspora have very low interaction on campus and graduate at a much slower rate than other groups. It is our purpose to remedy the issues that cause these two problems through self empowerment, sisterhood, community service, campus and community events, acceptance and activism.

Culturally-Sensitive Psychological Projective Test

This project creates an opportunity to explore the intersection between psychometric instrumentation and cross-cultural factors, as the researchers intend on the development of a new projective psychological instrument. Assessment instruments have been statistically proven to can be beneficial for members of all populations. As the number of minority clients increases and the mental health community continues to recognize the importance of minority mental health, the need for culturally sensitive instruments will increase.

Crawfordsville Culture Murals

As a community, my local Spanish Club wants to paint large murals on various buildings to add flavor to downtown and to express our rich cultures. We have a large population of Hispanics, and my class thinks it would be great to blend all of the amazing cultures and paint it for all to see in an artistic way.

Community Garden

Hey,
What I would like to do is get my community to start a community garden. I think I'd like to start with recruiting some of my peers, in order to build the community, give them hope and try to push out some of the drugs and violence.
Thanks

Teaching Immigrant Adults to Speak English

I teach adults, mostly latinos, how to speak English at a community adult school here in the Bay Area. My mom has been teaching at this adult school for over two years now, and I've been volunteering for over a year. Last year, I often went four times a week from 6:30-9:30 helping out in the intermediate or beginning intermediate class. ( depending on what day of the week it was ).

The Melting Pot of America

With my partner, I completed the Girl Scout Gold Award (the highest distinction awarded in Girl Scouts, equivalent to the Eagle Scout) Project. I educated younger Girl Scouts about different cultures that make up the United States of America. I set up booths for Thinking Day (a large event in the girl scout world) for various countries around the world so that the girls could learn about them and expand their knowledge of ethnicity.
