The Event that Changed My Life Forever By Andrea Garza

When I was diagnosed with food allergies as a 7th grader, my whole life changed within minutes. The list of allergies included wheat, gluten, milk, eggs, corn, soy, peanuts, shellfish...and the list goes on. Discovering that all of my favorite foods would be removed from my diet left me saddened, especially after experiencing the troubles of the previous year when my younger sister had an allergy list similar to mine.

Mississippi-Vermont Community Connection

Students of the Mississippi-Vermont Community Comection class at Twinfield Union School in Marshfield, Vermont have been learning from a “Rights in Action” curriculum. It is a model that enables students to reflect, create and fulfill action plans while building a voice that empowers and is shaped by community. Imagine a new generation of citizen activists bridging our nation’s North and South divide, raising their voices on important public issues, and enlisting community leaders and educators as partners in the civic and political life of their communities.

Birdhouses For The Homeless

There is a common misconception about homelessness and how it can be overcome. The homeless need homes...not jobs, or cloths, or food, or education .... those are problems in and of themselves... these people need homes (and who is to judge what type of home it is. ie. birdhouse). Once they have a home, they are ready to tackle other obstacles in their lives. As you will find out, it is quite simple to become part of the solution. All it takes is a little time and effort!!

Precious Awakening

Precious Awakening is pregnancy and infant loss website I have created in honor of my daughter Alana. I was inspired after I gave birth to Alana 19 weeks and 4 days too early on September 25th 2007. Though she was born alive, she was too young to survive. Her lungs had not developed enough. That very same day that she was born she passed away. I had no idea how common miscarriage, pregnancy, neonatal, and infant loss was until I had experienced it myself, and began doing research on the subject.

Long Beach High School Help

August 29, 2005, is the day that I turned into a leader. After Hurricane Katrina flooded and killed the lives of thousands of American citizens, my heart sank. I knew that this was my chance to make a difference in the lives of my peers. So I took action. After contacting a school in Long Beach, Mississippi that was able to re-enter their school 3 months post Katrina, I knew that this was my shot at changing lives. I contacted the school’s guidance department and got the names of the 364 seniors that would be graduating that year.

Fun for our Troops

Our mission is to aid in stress relief AND Relaxation by providing high-tech and interactive games to the men and women serving abroad to protect our freedom.

Many of our service men and women are gamers who rely on game play for entertainment, stress relief, and morale boost both stateside and during deployment. Studies show that thirty minutes of playing games can reduce stress levels significantly by giving the hands and mind something active in which to partake.
