Vision News: A Jer's Vision Production

The mission of Jer's Vision: Canada's Youth Diversity Initiative (the Jeremy Dias Foundation) is to support youth who are addressing issues of discrimination in their schools and communities. Discrimination is still a major problem in Canada, and youth are part of the solution. The potential of youth is all too often overlooked, and we want to change that.

Money 4 Monkey's

I am raising money to build a new playground in our County Park. I have raised over $10,000 so far and plan to raise another $40,000 in the next 18 months. I have raised this money by doing fundraisers that not only raise money for the project but either help enhance childrens education, physical abilities or help the environment. Some of the projects I have worked on so far are a Harvest Festival Float and Booth. I have collected old ink cartridges, toners and cell phones and I am working currently on a Talent Show and a Read a thon.

Disabilities Awareness

For my project, I am singlehandedly planning and organizing an awareness event. I want people in the community to be less ignorant about autism, Down's Syndrome, etc. I plan to invite and solicit donations from at least three major celebrities. I will emcee the event, pay for hotel accomodations for all out of state guests, and enlist the help of my fellow seniors for set up and clean up. I want to have some restaurants and grocery chains donate food and/or money. All proceeds will turn around and go to Best Buddies International

Dance Beyond Limits, Inc. Studio and Lighting

Dance Beyond Limits, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of persons with developmental disabilities and inner city youths through ballroom dance. Incorporated July 31, 2007, Dance Beyond Limits, Inc. is fairly new and is in desperate need of a studio in the metro Atlanta area where it can be present and accessible to both persons with disabilities and inner city youth by public transportation. It would be ideal to take a run down building and turn it into a fantastic dance studio and in doing this, rebuild the community.

Guide to Kalamazoo for the Disabled

The disabled population is often overlooked by society. It is almost as if our society would prefer to keep people with disabilities out of sight for whatever reason. Maybe it is for this reason that people with disabilities do not always get the chance to take part in everyday activities like dining out, seeing a movie, or participating in other recreational activities. With my project I plan to increase the ease with which people who are disabled can find activities in the Kalamazoo community to participate in.

The William and Mary Bequia Sunshine Project

The Bequia Sunshine Project, a College of William and Mary student-led, international service learning trip was established to address both the superficial and underlying educational needs in Bequia. Bequia, one of the St. Vincent and Grenadines islands, is a small 5 ½ mile long island whose drastic needs, like many other Caribbean islands, are often overlooked, due to its small population and poor economy.
