Juarez Women's Fund

The Juarez Women’s Fund seeks to further the education and economic empowerment of young women in low-income communities on the border. A combination of economic and social forces in Juarez has contributed to the increasingly vulnerable position of women in the city, as evidenced by the high murder rates in recent years. The Juarez Women’s Fund was created to support the educational goals of disadvantaged young women and girls through unrestricted grants.

STAND! (Students Taking a New Direction)

In 2000, Hopkins alum Wesley Moore worked with the Baltimore juvenile justice system to bring to life an innovative, mentoring program called STAND! (Students Taking A New Direction), which paired middle-school-age children with a college mentor. The children participating in the program were children who seemed to be heading down the wrong path due to all sorts of reasons; children who were showing disruptive behavior; students who were losing interest in school.

HIPP Starz!

We are a group of high school students who are concerned about the violence in our schools and communities. We want to make a differnece. We go to four different middle schools each week and work with the kids on ways to counter the violence in their lives. We do real crazy skits and activites that teach students that there are other ways to react to violence than just beating someone up! We believe we can make a differnce one student at a time. If you live in Wichita come get trained and join the FUN!
