The main problem we are trying to solve with our documentary is the lack awareness and our students have of poverty in the United States. Our school is Gonzaga Preparatory School in Spokane, Washington. It disturbed us when the students of the school described those in poverty as “lazy” or saying that the reason they are in difficult economic situations was because of some fault of their own.

Superstar Madonna wows us with her new role as Producer, Writer, and Narrator of her feature documentary "I Am Because We Are," which she premiered this past weekend at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.

CGG checked out the film, which opens with Archbishop Desmond Tuto proclaiming "I am because we are," or "Ubuntu," an idea present in African spirituality which means that we only exist because of each other, and that we are all connected in community, health and faith.

One of the most influential ways to make a lasting impression is through visual aid. This is why my friends and I would like to make a documentary to promote awareness within our community. Awareness of what?

Awareness of our addiction to foreign oil and the pollution it creates. The resources we are abusing. The plastic bottles we consume that are now located in a trash can, or even worse, on the side of the road.

My communications class was given the task of doing 5 projects that would help others rather than ourselves. My partner and I came up with the idea of doing a documentary on recycled fashions. We plan to compare and contrast clothes that are home-made rather than mass produced, and hopefully make people more aware of problems like sweat shops and just how much they actually waste among other things.

My group will create an eductional video to show on bronxnet and at school assemblies.Drugs and Education will be our theme. The video will be a documentary focusing on the life of a high School student(s) and thier experience of abusing drugs such as Marijuana and Alcohol and/or a dealing with a family member or friend who is abusing drugs.

Inspired by the coincidence of Bhutan's first democratic elections with a US presidential election year, The Emerging Lens Initiative (TELI) provides adolescents in Bhutan and the United States with the opportunity to explore democracy and each others culture through self-produced videos. In both countries, video production workshops will partner with classroom teachers to empower adolescents with the ability to produce short videos which they will then use as the medium of exchange in this cross-cultural learning initiative.

"Films That Move" is a film production company dedicated to making films that spark social change.

The first film of "Films That Move" follows a group of 15 students from the University of Illinois biked from New York City to San Diego over the course of this past summer to raise money and awareness for the fight against cancer. The riders' journey is used as a case study to explore issues of cancer, life, and rallying together to fight a common cause in the documentary entitled "What People Do."
