New film takes on water profiteers

Water is viewed by many financiers as the “new petroleum” of the 21st century – a commodity that is in ever-shorter supply, and that people will be willing to pay more and more to have access to. However, global water supplies are at risk from a wide variety of threats. Global warming is shrinking glaciers and snowfields that millions rely on for drinking and irrigation water. Mining of ancient groundwater supplies can only go on for so long before the aquifers run dry, and industrial and agricultural pollution is widespread.

Ludacris' new film is a CGG Must-See

When rapper/actor Chris “Ludacris” Bridges threw a charitable bash at a Ralph Lauren store in Georgia to raise money for his foundation, superstar friends (like the glamorous Fergie and Rich Boy) came out in full support.

This is an anti-suicide film that I have been writing for over four years. It has a close to home feel while the main character undergoes many different obsticles in his life. When given the out of suicide he slowly realizes that it's not his only way to deal with life.

This story has meant alot to me as I have known fellow classmates whom have taken their lives because of the topics covered in my script. My best friend has suffered a great deal of depression and attempted a number of times to kill himself. Thankfully none of them worked! He became my inspiration to finish writing this and I want everyone out there to realize that no matter how hard things get, suicide is not the answer. I went through a stage close to the ones my peers went through, which is why I started writing this, but because of my writing, I turned away and never looked back.

Suicide is important in our country and I fell that it should be touched upon much more. I am a filmmaker/writer/actor/director/producer on this film and am currently in pre-production. In Mid may I plan on shooting the film, hopefully with a few celebrity names on it.

Within the next 3 weeks a website will be posted for the film. the address will be www.emptyapartmentmovie.com. Also check out www.myspace.com/ammproductions to view other works currently in progress.

I hope suicide prevention is as important to everyone out there as it is to me!

The People Could Fly Project is a documentary arts project focusing on the dreams of young people across the African Diaspora. It follows the adventures of five sisters, ages of 7 to 21 as they travel across the US, Africa, and South America talking to young people about their dreams and visions for themselves and the world. Their work will culminate in a docu-narrative film about the journey.

As the daughters of an airline employee they've been able to fly many places, but felt it was imperative to share their experiences with others and to talk and engage with young people around the world about the power of their own dreams, their own abilities to make them reality, and thus their own ability to fly.

They have traveled to New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, St. Louis, Jena, LA, Connecticut, Detroit, Virginia, Nashville, TN; Washington, DC; and Mississippi talking, filming, photographing, and interviewing people of all ages about their dreams and are on the way to many other places.

They were inspired by a folktale told in the Americas about Africans enslaved who sprout wings and fly away. The story is found in children's book author Virginia Hamilton's "The People Could Fly".

Hi my name is Malcolm Mays and I'm a young filmmaker who's being presented the oppurtuniy to create his first full length feature film. The subject matter of my film is about my personal dealings with the violent racial tensions between Black and Latino youth in the Los Angeles school systems and its surrounding communities. This tension has now became a serious problem in the life of the youth of not only LA but all over America's poverty stricken neighborhoods. It's became an epidemic of violence and deaths that can no longer be ignored; so instead of me participating in the violence I've decided to use my art as an expression and possible solution to this problem. It is a professional film made possible by a film camera grant provided by panavision now I just need some funds to purchase the equipment needed to make watchable film. I'm no rookie either, I've been featured in many film festivals and I also have been working at sony pictures as a intern for the past two years.

Thank You for taking me into consideration,

Malcolm M. Mays

Girls and Guys on the Move - GOT M, is produced by Emerald Greene. It is a talk show that features youth promoting all aspects of life surrounding youth. We speak about fashion, health, social issues, culture, world news, and specifically how we can change the present state of negative images in the world. There are so many ways that we as youth can make life better for the future. There are a lot of parents that have neglected their children and we try to understand the plight of the homeless youth, the street gang mentality, the safe sex issues, the drug use and the educational decline in this country. I need to be able to produce my program and get my program on as many outlets as possible. But because I am not financially able to I really need assistance. I would be so so grateful if many more adults cared about what we teenagers have to say and how our input can help shape lives. Girls and Guys on the move, GOT M will take you to another level, bring the young and the old together, and enlighten and enhance you with the best that we can possibly promote. The next generation of youth will not be called generation X, we are generation next.
