anti-smoking

Chosing to be smoke free

The problem I want to address is the lack of education for the youth in my town. Currently there is an anti-drug program in the middle and high school, but I believe that there is not enough emphasis put on the use of tobacco. Since it is the “gateway” drug. To address this problem a fun interactive environment will be created where they will be learn the effects and dangers of smoking.

GASP

GASP (Girls Advocating for Smoke-free Pregnancies) is a youth-led initiative led by a couple of young ladies from the anti-smoking group TRU. Our focus is on teen mothers, but we reach out to all people. We strive to lower the number of teen mothers that use tobacco during pregnancy or around children. Children all over the world face health obstacles because of their parent's smoking habits. This is totally unfair to the innocent children, so we work with their parents.

Global Youth Health, Education, Leadership Program: Preventing youth from tobacco and promoting healthy lifestyles

As Founder/President of Global Youth H.E.L.P. Inc (Health Education Leadership Program) I conduct tobacco awareness educational programs, train youth peer leaders, and provide educational and sports supplies to improve the physical and emotional wellbeing of disadvantaged youth in the US and in developing countries. Tobacco use is the leading cause of preventable deaths and the most difficult addiction to overcome. Most smokers start before they turn 18 and tobacco consumption rates are rising among American youth including college students.

Market B-Free Radio

A few of us and some other middle school students worked on two radio ads in collaboration with one of our local radio stations. We came up with, recorded and will soon be playing on the air two anti-smoking radio ads.Our group of seven students worked really hard writing and producing these ads. We hope to impact a lot of our community members to quite and/or never start smoking. This was an awesome dedicated experience!
