Environmental Education Through Schools

I am a Peace Corps Volunteer in Trusesti, Romania teaching at a K-8th school. I am searching for help with a project to increase awareness and education about the environment.

In my community, streets and sewage systems are filled with garbage, plastic is overused then burned and recycling is not a common practice. Even today the effects of an industrial communist regime can be seen by the low priority given to the environment and lack of understanding the consequences of ones actions in relation to the environment.

District-wide K-12 LTS Program

Our town needs change... and it needs to come from the youth population. Proposed is a Learning Through Service (LTS) program that would work with all public schools K-12 (and any private / charter school that shows interest!) to execute community service projects that directly correlate to the curriculum students are learning!

Our students are extremely active, and this program would allow them a more upfront and creative way to be activists! For more on WH youth activism, check out our website: www.rockandlearn.org

Green Preschool & Day Care

I am opening a green day care/preschool to teach children from the ages of 0-5 that they can have an impact on the environment. Also, the center will be eco friendly with minimal impact to the environment. The center will have a native grass that doesn't need to be watered, bamboo flooring and other recycled products. In addition, the children will be able to grow food and see how nature works with a key on fun so they enjoy being green.

Way to reduce your carbon footprint, Radiohead!

While most bands would request a private jet, or at the very least, a round-trip ticket in first class, Radiohead just said no when they were asked to travel to NYC from the UK to perform on Conan O'Brien. Instead, their homeland jam was seen by Conan fans via satellite. The reason, according to frontman Thom Yorke: Flying to the U.S.
