OASIS (Outdoor Action for Social and Intrapersonal Strength)

OASIS (Outdoor Action for Social and Intrapersonal Stregth) is a project I am running at the Durham Nativity School in Durham, North Carolina. The Durham Nativity School is a nonprofit organization that provides free private school tuition to at-risk middle school students in the Durham area. OASIS is a supplemental retreat program for the students at this school. We take their students (approximately 15-35 students are expected to attend each retreat) on weekend long retreats to various areas that are relatively near (but outside of) the Durham area.

I learned how in Circus Club!

We are juggling, learning to ride unicycles, building human pyramids, jumping rope, balancing on balance boards, tumbling, and more! I am an elementary physical education teacher and this year my gym and my students have come alive through circus arts. Our Circus Club meets every Wednesday and Thursday after school. But, why circus?

Act Now Club

They say that time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself. If you don't like something change it; if you can't change it, change the way you think about it.

Be The Change:
"Growth Only Comes When You Transform" is a short reflection on our unique ability to participate in our own evolution. When all is said and done, the only change that will make a difference is the transformation of the human heart.

Amangwe Village Computer Program

Amangwe Village is a Non-Government Operation, based in KwamBonambi, South Africa. The Amangwe VIllage project includes a self-sustainable garden education course, an on-grounds TB and HIV hospital, a day school and feeding program for children, and more. I am a Texas citizen that lived at Amangwe Village from July 2006- December 2006. At the time I arrived, there was a room with 4 computers, all with internet access. None of these computers were being used as no one really knew how to use them.
