Many students and people in our community are unaware of the problems and lack of privileges a disabled person endures. Among the most marginalized of citizens in the United States and other leading industrial nations, a large proportion of disabled are impoverished and unemployed. We want to advocate for the attention to be redirected. No longer should the disabled be discriminated on the basis of medical impairment but attention should now be focused upon changing the social-political issues that underpin disability oppression.

4 Peace was founded in October of 2006. Our various projects are innovative, well-organized and staffed with energized membership, but find themselves hampered by a lack of funding. The members of 4 Peace are aware of "Do Something” ’s reputation as a socially responsible and equitable community member, and believe our organizations are dedicated to the same goals. 4 Peace aspires to begin our work as soon as we possibly can, but we need help to do so. We therefore ask for the honor of your consideration for a Plum Grant.

Penny Harvest is an inspiring youth philanthropy project with roots in New York City and Seattle schools. It began 16 years ago in NYC. Since that time, children have raised over five million dollars in pennies to fund social change organizations and projects that they care about.
For two years, I have volunteered in three of the four public schools here and dreamed of starting a Penny Harvest here. Over 20 percent of the town lives below the federal poverty line, and we are situated in the second poorest county in Ohio. The children are wonderful and enthusiastic.

Our founders William Henry Letterman and Charles Paige Thomas Moore started our fraternity in 1852. Our founders realized the benefit from "the great joy of serving others". In 2003 our local chapter was started. We has participated in various volunteer organizations all of which benefited the community. This semester we are looking forward to starting a local food drive, we would like to go door to door handing out bags with flyers in them dedicating a date to pick up the canned goods.
