My name is Ryan Dhindsa, and I am a freshman at Sage Ridge High school in Reno, Nevada. My classmate, Brandon Jones, and I, decided to start a Darfur fundraiser in seventh grade (2005), and since then have raised $4,000. We raised this money by selling Save Darfur merchandise which was bought for us by sponsors at school, rallies, and other public events. We were also invited to attend a Global Issues conference in Luxembourg of which schools from all over the world attended. We gave a presentation on Darfur which recieved great feedback.

The crisis in Darfur is an issue that cannot be neglected. Millions of people are being thrown out of their homes, starved, raped, and murdered. The Sudanese government is doing very little about it. In reality, they are providing money and assitance to the Janjaweed militia, the rebel army. The government is receiving money from wealthy nations through oil exports. China is a huge provider in this issue. U.S delegates have been pressuring China to cut ties with the Sudanese government, but China has ignored the demands.
