Dear Scholarship Award judges, I need this scholarship because it is vital to my graduation with my Bachelor degree in International Business. Also, my main goal is to help the poor children of America grow up being better aware of there surroundings. In order to do so I want to start a non profit organization call The Young Travelers of America (Y.T.A.). The first program is for the girls it’s called Broaden Your Horizons (B. Y. H.). The second program will be for young under privilege boys called Men of the World (M.O.W.). B.Y.H.

The Marchin' White Tigers Community Drill Team

This group was created on September 11, 2004 by Carlton C.J. Jaushlin at the age of 16. We are a marching and dance drill team working to provide training, discipline, challenges and competition opportunities for under privilege youth in the Wichita area. Our goal is to provide direction to the youth in an effort to keep the out of and away from gangs and gang violence, drugs, and jail. Being apart of the drill team requires that the youth have a C average or above to stay on the team. they also must be team players.

Emerson College ASB

Emerson ASB was started last year by myself Erika Rydberg. I founded ASB to give a chance to students to be fully involved in service over their Spring Break. Last year we went to New Orleans all the way from Boston through Habitat for Humanity with 12 students present. We helped rebuild in East New Orleans and stayed at a gutted school house in St. Bernard Parish. During the break the leader and I ran reflection activities. After our break we had an open forum discussing New Orleans and what we experienced there.

Our goal is to make Shakespeare widely available across the nation and, more importantly, widely enjoyed and understood. Too often the Bard is ignored or considered too difficult to understand when in reality his works are just as relevant today as they were in his time. We believe that Shakespeare is one of history's greatest authors and that attending a performance of his works should be pain-less and dare we say enjoyable.

Speak Out

A group of students and I have created a speech and debate program at King High School. Most members of the organization are honors students in the International Baccalaureate program. Through student run workshops and team practices, students learn to research a case, write a speech, or prepare an interpretation of literature performance . Many students come to our team as shy freshmen looking for a community, and they soon grow intellectually, learning to express themselves and build confidence.

Habitat for Humanity/Collegiate Challenge

I first became a member of Collegiate Challenge, a subgroup of Habitat for Humanity, in my freshman year. Collegiate Challenge involves with helping others and by building houses in different areas throughout the United States whereas Habitat for Humanity just deals with the local area. During my freshman year, there were three groups that traveled throughout the United States: one group to Colorado, one group to South Dakota, and one group to Texas. I went to Eagle Butte, South Dakota.
