The race for president has gotten increasingly nasty over the past few weeks with both parties accusing the other of spreading lies and the McCain camp slamming Obama for an alleged sexist comment against Palin involving the phrase, "lipstick on a pig." The Democrats are now jumping on Palin's limited travel around the world.

This time around, the Staten Island DS club wants to contribute to society differently, not by raising money, but by spreading knowledge. The 2008 elections are gaining up to us, and fast! Looking over the past school year, I realized that our soon-to-be-seniors will be voting in the next presidential election. This thought amazed me, yet frightened me as well. How many of the juniors know who the candidates in the election are? How many, knowing the candidates, know what they are running for? The fact is, not many students can name even two of the running candidates.
